Forums - Gaming Discussion - CD Projekt opens new Kraków studio - Updated working on "smaller" 20h game

CD Projekt, the creator of The Witcher and Good Old Games, has launched a new studio in Kraków, Poland.

Although the new studio has not formally been announced, a job posting for a Concept Artist on CD Projekt’s site is based at the new location.

Although there are no details as to what the new studio will be working on, CD Projekt is currently busy with two next generation projects, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077, so there’s probably plenty of work to go around.

Thanks, AllGamesBeta.

Witcher developer CD Projekt Red will open a new studio in Poland in the historic city of Kraków next month, where it will make one of two new smaller games approximately 20-hours in length.

"This July we will open an office in Kraków," said CDPR managing director Adam Badowski in a statement to Eurogamer.

"As we informed in our strategy outlook some time ago, aside from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077, the Studio aims to develop two smaller (approximately 20 hours of gameplay) premium quality titles.

"Consisting of 20 people, the core team in Kraków will be responsible for developing one of these games."

CD Projekt Red has talked a bit about its plans beyond The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 before. It seems most likely this new game developed by CD Projekt Red Kraków was the game referred to as "AA" back in February 2012. "AA" status refers to "big games with good scores" that take around two-years to make. That "AA" game was forecast for 2013 - a date that could have since shifted.

CD Projekt Red HQ, where The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 are being made, is in Warsaw - 180 miles away from Kraków.

Awesome, I love CDPR. I'd go completely crazy if the new team started by porting Witcher 1 and 2 to the Vita :P Though I know chances are small.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Wow.

The rate at which these guys are expanding their operations is amazing.
Well deserved, they make great games.
