Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo Can Solve All Its Wii U Problems With Metroid

Metroid woud be a good edition to the Wii U games but it wouldn't sell the Wii U to the overall masses. It sells 2 million units-ish. Mario Kart sells 30 million, that is what will save the Wii U.

Around the Network

Metroid is one of Nintendos weakest characters, and being a shooter on a Nintendo console doesn't help either. Metroid helps bridge the gap between the newer and older fans, but it seems Zelda has taken up that role since Link appeals to the gamers whom have grown up and can sell very well in the process.

Nintendo could solve world poverty with a new Metroid.

I mean in popularity. Metroid isnt Mario.

Hahaha, no :(

At this point a new Metroid would be a success if it even reached 1 Mil sales...

Other M got 1.25 million and it was considered a failure in sales. A new Metroid, especially one with the tagline of "HD" and one that doesn't get bashed in reviews for a horrible story, would likely sell at least 2 million.

lol No. Just no.

I love Metroid (well, everything but Other M and Hunters), but it has NEVER been the kind of big seller to "solve all of Nintendo's problems".

I want a new, fully 2D, HD sprite based Metroid, Metroid 5 in fact. Nothing else.

But what is going to "save" the Wii U, is simply more games coming out, and better advertising. Both will be happening this fall.

I just noticed that this was written by GameInformer. Makes sense.
