Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

I think its to late to ditch the gamepad.
I myself would rather do without it, and switch the gamepad for more power. sure its a cool idea, but its not worth what they're sacrificing. I just wan't great Nintendo games though, and that seems to be what im going to get, so I don't really mind it all that much.

I have always said that I felt the Gamepad is what held the WiiU back.

They should have put that money into slightly better internal hardware and packaged the console with the Wiimote+Nunchuck along with a Pro Controller.

I would have had one already.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

I was against the gamepad till i tried it.

It is something you need to play to enjoy it. Local multiplayer especially is good as you don't have split screen. COD has never been more fun locally with friends who are too cheap to won a console lol.

That's wierd, i was thinking it would probably be good until i actually did try it. It was awful and I never want to use it again until zelda and x come out.

gamepad is a fun addition

I don't know what happened at Nintendo but where the hell is Wii Sports U? the game had some interesting ways to use the gamepad like golf ball on the ground while using the WiiMote to hit it or grabbing balls falling from the sky

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

gamepad is awesome! Only people that never use it thinks that Nintendo should ditch it

I think the article does make a good point. We often hear how Nintendo creating their own consoles is beneficial because they can determine the tech and build games specifically around it. However, other than the brilliant Nintendoland, they've shown absolutely no interest in using the gamepad in an interesting way and seem to have just reverted to making HD versions of Wii games.

Edit: Let me just clarify that I love having the gamepad. Not owning an ipad, it has become my internet browser at home and off screen play is great when I'm in bed. But it's a tad sad that it only serves minor functions outside of gaming when it initially appeared it was going to be an integral part of the system.

I think the gamepad is pretty cool. Imagine playing Mario Kart with 6 people. 2 people on their gamepads, 4 on the screen. It could be pretty great.

They already changed gaming as we know it today. They shook up the world with dual screen gaming and changed how wii play with motion control gaming. What do you want them to do? Throw the gamepad as a boomerang in Zelda games? Throw the GamePad to throw a fireball in Mario? Really, what do you want!
