Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Major Nelson: If you get banned, you don't lose access to your games

He dodged one of the most important questions for Rentbox One.
When MS cease to support X1, like the first Xbox, will the games rented by us will still be playable?

He said they would never do that.

And with all the ad money they will make off of the TV/XBL side of stuff, why would they ever do that?

So why deprive me from "my" games if for example for an unfortunate reason, I get low on cash an my internet has to go?

When did he say they would never do that?

He didn't, because that's not how the Xbone works.

You can accept that, or buy another console.

You got that right. Unless years down the road a Jtag/RGH come save the system for us.

I'd rather buy an Ouya than rent games for $60. I value my hard earned money.

I want to keep my investments.

Not sure how you're renting Xbox One games. Publishers wouldn't allow you to resell your PS4 games but not Xbox.

Aaaaaaaaand the PR disaster continues.

They should just do what they did before and release definitive answers to the main questions people are asking. All theyre doing right now is confusing people and giving out mixed messages.

agreed, even if i mostly don't care about bother mostother players in my case.... but knowing MS as a whole... 5 months from launch I'm pretty sure it's because a lot of it is not totally set in stone... the outline of the policies are set up to stay ut the detail might still be up in the air.... wouldn't be surprised i the 24h check ins is droped if you have the original disc in the drive or stuff like that... especially since they might have legal issues with that in some countries....

either way it has no relevance for me for the most part but I really think for some details they have no definitive answes to give yet....

Aaaaaaaaaaand so it continues a rumour is debunked, good news comes... And people complain about that too.

It hasnt been debunked.

If this was the first answer we got regarding the situation, I might believe it. When multiple sources from Microsoft confirm different things, Im not gonna believe either. Ill wait until launch and we get stories from consumers.

I believe Major is talking about internet ban on games, not MS online ban on the system.  The 2 are very different.  If MS bans you from XBL, then you would not have access to your games after 24 hours.  Nothing about this has changed and I believe people are not thinking this through.  Even in the video he makes a small remark about if you are banned from multiplay then you cannot play in that game.

PS3 use to do game sharing with up to 5 friends, publishers soon put a stop to that, i wonder what they will think when they find out about One's 10, if its as straight forward as people on here think it is.

I WANT OFFICIAL ANSWERS DAMNIT. I'm tired of all the mixed message bullcrap.
