Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft is confirmed for TGS

Good luck.

What's the point? Most people in Japan or even the rest of Asia don't really want it. Microsoft could get away with never releasing Xbox One there and the Japanese wouldn't care

Xbox One, PS4 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

TGS is almost as big as E3. In fact it's bigger for Asia than E3 is.

Not attending would be suicide. It would be like skipping E3 entirely.

Microsoft and Japan on this site: damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Whatever ...

Now that's interesting. Could they have some Japanese exclusives planned? Why bother? I don't think there is any way at all Japan is going to go for the XO.

This will probably be for appearances and not much else.

probably for appearances, but if they manage to get an exclusive on their console it means on less game that would push the PS4 in japan. basically im sure MS knows they are dead on arrival in japan, but that doesnt mean they cant get in the way of PS4 selling in japan by money hatting devs to make exclusives for X1 and thus less games being released on PS4. im just speculating here

It's nice to see that they don't give up. Giving up is not a good quality for anything.

2 million 360 consoles shows it's worth some effort , a presence is better than no presence at all .
Turning up at TGS isn't going to cost them a fortune plus if they don't it leaves the floor open to  Sony  to show off a lot of new reveals and expand on it's vision for PS4's future , without any counterpoint by way of MS showing what they to have  in store fore the public , also it gets more than just Japanese coverage.

I don't think it is "trolling" to state this is likely the ceiling for Microsoft with the X1 in Japan.  So, let's say they can expect to sell 100K a year at best.  Is it worth it to subsidize a region like this?  I know money is not an issue for them, but this is a business and resources could be spent better elsewhere, like NA and EU where they have had success of varying degrees.
