I want them to launch in Japan as early as possible just so I can watch the numbers and laugh.

It would be even funnier if announced excluive FF15 and KH3 DLC.

No chance of happening

If KH3 and Ff15 is shown at TGS then it will be shown with PS4 at the Sony showing

Do you think exclusive DLC would work where exclusive games did not?

To be honest, MS's only way to success in Japan is through Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest. You see how Sony let MS get all those JRPGs on 360 but when FF13 came out they made sure that it released exclusively 1st on ps3 in Japan?

MS cant get those titles exclusive so if anything, they would need to get some type of exclusive dlc for them but that's not going to happen

They are not even launching in Japan til 2014-2015.......

It wont be 2015, i believe they said 2014, but why does that matter?  The wii u and ps3 were both annouced two years before they came out.

Japan is a major gaming country, not just some smaller 3rd world or developing nation.

For MS to not even bother with a Japanese launch til 2 years after their 'Global Launch' must be incredibly insulting to the already limited number of Xbox fans in Japan.

How will they respond to their fans and the media when asked why Japan, despite being a major gaming nation and home to a number of game companies, apparently wasn't good enough to get the Xbox One along with everyone else?

It's going to be a PR nightmare over there, maybe even more so than what they are experiencing right now.

? I just said that they said 2014, which is at most one year, more likely it will be half a year.  Like the ps3 coming to europe late, or vita coming to america late.  This isnt some unprecedented move.  It is actually more precedence for a staggered world launch than a simultanious ww launch.  Also, japan is not really that major of a gaming nation when it comes to home consoles, they are mostly big on handhelds. I mean, the ps3 sales in a erica where it is in 3rd are more than all the home console sales in japan combined.

Ah sorry, I must have mistread that, but still such a long delay of 1-1.5 years is certainly not precedent for a Home console launch, nothing in recent memory seems to come close to that length of time.

And it is easy for us sitting in regions that will undoubtedly be getting both consoles on launch day to talk about how it's alright for a fan in a different country to have to wait.

In terms of Home consoles, Japan in #3 after US and UK, that is quite major if you ask me, and there are millions of home console owners in Japan. Compound that with ad money and XBL accounts in addition to game sales and that is a market that is worth Billions of dollars.

Their showing at TGS seems pointless, the focus will be on Sony as it is every year and there is a chance for them to garner even more negative press at the event.

Kingdom Hearts isn't really big in Japan.  Final Fantasy is seriously loosing their userbase in Japan.  Dragon Quest ist he only thing they can get and Horii won't even let the franchise on Sony's machine.

I personally think Microsoft should go to TGS, but I doubt anything will come of it.  On another note I'm kinda sad Microsoft made a new studio when they have 3 studios they made not making games for them.

I watched how MS fought really hard to earn a reputation in Japan with a lot of JRPGs like Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery, The Last Remnant, Star Ocean 4, Enchanted Arms, Magna Carta 2, etc. and although some of them were timed, they did came first on the Xbox360... And after all that, the Japanese still said "くたばれXbox360!" (Go to hell Xbox360!)...

I think if they want to really push into the Japanese market, they need to differentiate themselves from Sony... The multiplatform titles and even timed Xbone exclusives will be bought on PS4 so it's all about the exclusive content (and not DLC, that won't work either), they need to have a really strong lineup of exclusive games that appeal to the Japanese (and not just JRPGs), plus, if they're serious with their TV stuff, they need to have shows like exclusive anime content, and they need to adjust Kinect to the Asian market (apparently this is the real reason for the delay)...

Now, the thing here is that Sony is going to have a headstart with the launch, the price and the really good press that they've been getting, things that the PS3 didn't have and it still outsold the 360... So it's going to be more difficult this time around...

Well i guess you are right about Kingdom hearts but its still big enough to make a difference

Idk whats going on with Dragon Quest but we would need for Level5 to collab with them again and i dont think that's happening. I always looked at Dragon Quest on a sales level. 3DS sold way more than psp over there so they went with 3ds. Wii sold way more than ps3 over there so they went with Wii.PS2 sold way more than Gamecube over there so they went with PS2. That's how i see it with DQ
