Miyamoto: "Is he a PC developer?"

The jealousy shown toward Nintendo from other developers is really pathetic. Maybe this guy ought to spend his time making better games rather than insulting Miyamoto.

Jaffe, though joking, has a very fair point. It doesn't really matter that Twisted Metal and Mario Kart are aimed at entirely different audiences, because in the context of Twisted Metal is makes a hell of a lot of sense. And, of course, had Retro made that game we all know it'd have drawn comparisons to MK and TM and that's it.

Honestly, to me TM is MK without the boring racing parts (battle mode is so much more fun, and should have AI opponents) and a darker tone that makes you want to get into the game more than a colorful little cart. Granted, MK basically has no story or anything else to it, but if it did I wouldn't care as much or think it's nearly as cool as TM's story, especially after Black.

The real question Miyamoto should have asked is "why put guns on cars AGAIN?"

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Twisted Metal has a story?

Wow, I've been playing them for years and never realized that.

Who is this Jaffe person, what he has to do with Retro, and why is he questioning banana peels?

I'm sick of seeing this quote already because he is (obviously) using a Miyamoto quote out of context in order to prove some childish point ...

If you're trying to do something serious or realistic with a car combat game the question "Why would you put a gun on a car?" should come up. At the same time, when he was inventing the kart racing genre Miyamoto probably added combat because he wanted to make the game different from a standard racing game.

Personally, this only makes me respect David Jaffe far less ...

He didn't take the Miyamoto comment out of context.  The interviewer did, forcing Jaffe to answer a loaded question fully intended to create controversy.

David Jaffe basically created the Twisted Metal series, and he was the director of the first God of War. He has since left Sony, creating his own studio Eat Sleep Play which is working on PSN titles like Calling All Cars, in addition to a few other PlayStation projects.

Jaffe and Miyamoto should settle their differences over a game of Wii Boxing.

What differences? Miyamoto probably doesn't even know who he is
