Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo’s Silent Victory at E3 2013

I wholeheartedly agree. Nintendo doesn't want to nor has any need to mingle with Sony and Microsoft, they really are the losers of the industry to Nintendo. Nintendo and them are two very different beasts.

I say next year make a conference again and unleash the playable forms of X and Zelda U. That will win them E3 next year for sure. It would help if they had a trailer or tease of the next metroid prime. Retro has 6 months to work on it before the next E3 (if they havent started yet).

Eh? If nintendo convinced you with what they showed, you were likely already convinced long time ago. I could have predicted some of the games coming to Wii U from Nintendo without their E3 direct. If those are the games you wanted to play, you were going to buy the Wii U and it was just a matter of when.

The 3DS has the Japanese 3rd parties exclusively in the bag. And I can see games like Mass Effect & Darksiders & so fort still coming to the Wii U as well as PS4/ONE. If the PS4 & ONE gets other games that won't come to Wii U then it won't affect sells that much after seeing the Wii do as well as it did.

That's an urban legend : TecmoKoei, NIS, Konami, Compile Heart, Marvelous AQL have no games planned on Nintendo consoles. NamcoBandai and SquareEnix have only one each (One Piece and Bravery Default 2 respectively) and focus all their other ressources on Playsation and Xbox. Japanese companies who do support Nintendo (Sega, Capcom, Level-5) have an equal number of projects on other systems as well.

Nintendo isn't always at their best game, so it's hit and miss when we predict. For example, we didn't expect years 2011 and 2012 to suck on the Wii except a few very important exceptions.

Some people don't seem to understand the difference between the terms "victory" and "win". "Win" is a competitive term - if one wins then the others don't. "Victory" needn't be competitive - one can be victorious by completing a difficult puzzle, for instance.

Nintendo had a victory with their E3 presentation. It didn't "win E3", it merely achieved to do what it set out to do, and avoided the pitfalls that it needed to avoid. That is a victory.

And I fully agree with the article.

I'm not talking about predicting  over the next year. I meant lifetime of the console.  It was just a matter of when which means anyone waiting for said games was already planning to get Wii U. Weren't you expecting a 2D mario, 3D mario, Zelda and Smash bros on Wii U?

Let's not overexaggerate. They did good, nothing more. Great? Not really. Sony did great, Nintendo did good, MS did very, very bad.

No way did Nintendo win E3, they placed in a comfortable second place and delived what they wanted to deliver (unfortunately not exactly what I was hoping they'd deliver). Will it be enough? We'll see this Christmas.

Sony did only good cause of bashing Microsoft. what sad times when a company "wins" cause of not deciding to fuck over the people. We still don't know what Sony had planned before the Microsoft meltdown. Their games were broing and they didn't show one exclusive that would be worth purchasing a PS 4 day one.
