^Thanks Basil. The spinoffs you mentioned though were never numbered in the mainline series.

They said that about XIV, XIII saga, XII, XI, X-2, X, VIII, even VII for some.

The truth is' Final Fantasy never had a "way", and that what makes this franchise exciting and refreshing.

@bold. If they did that would be BS. The games were always turn-based and though futuristic were always set in a fantasy setting.

I can say neither about XV. Yes there are surreal objects but the game is set in modern times the trailer even said as much...

They did trust me, not necessarily gameplay-wise but with other things like "emo boys",  over dramatic, realistic artstyle and so on.

XV is "fantasy" enough, real vs myth as the producer put it.

Final Fantasy VII was emo, so were Rydia and edge in FFIV, they just weren't boys. Even Cecil was true to his emotions. But what we have here are people that you could recognize in today's world (Japan), in worlds that look way too close to ours (much more so than FFVII's Midgar, which was only the very first part of the game), and it breaks the magical effect that FF always has offered us. Granted we don't know what FFXV holds for us in the later segments of the game, but if it's just a FF take on Second Son, I don't think I'm interested.

Final Fantasy lost its way when they had development times being forever, combined with the fact sequels for games the games they created within the Main Line, which is something FFX, and FFVII had, which were really poorly done.

Final Fantasy was supposed to be THE Fantasy JRPG, that was the height of imagination and creativity, now it is devolved into staying relevant with fans.

I mean now a days any game can be simply labeled Final Fantasy. I mean they literally just turned Final Fantasy V 13, into Final Fantasy 15. It means nothing.

Nope. As much as I loved the old turn based system they can't really release something like that today and expect it to be big.. Especially after XIII/XIII-2, which was critically crapped upon by fans and reviewers alike. They need to spruce up the series and changing it to an action RPG is the way to go imo. Saying that, I wouldn't mind if they went back to older settings with Medieval influences and character design. Oh, and some good old steampunk.

XV has been the most compelling FF game I've seen since X, which is my favorite in the series and the only one I've finished. Very few turn-based games do anything for me--I've always preferred action games, particularly hack-and-slash, and this looks right up my alley.

Have some time to kill? Read my shitty games blog. http://www.pixlbit.com/blogs/586/gigantor21

It lost its way with XIII and keeps going downhill, much like all other old franchises today.

It took me a long time to like the Paradigm system of Final Fantasy XIII and only controlling the leader, but it grew on me. That being said, I don't want Final Fantasy to move away from turn-based RPG style of play.

It started with X actually, Story was good but it had the same linearity as XIII. Kitase sucks as a developer. XII was ver awesome in its openess but the story wasnt as compelling as the others. But yeah kitase started this crap. He screwed up FF for a whole generation of consoles.
