Golem.de (quite famous German IT-News site with some gaming-news) had an interview with Cevat Yerli, founder of Crytek.

Cevat Yerli on Romans, Ryse and Xbox-One Technology

E3 2013

Crytek's Ryse new action game is a showcase title for the Xbox One.  It uses smart glass, Kinect and the cloud.  Company founder Cevat Yerli talks in an interview at E3 on its first exclusive title - about technology, emotions, and of course the Xbox One.  Display

He loves Ridley Scott's Gladiator, the TV series Rome and Spartacus: Cevat Yerlis affinity for the scenario of Crytek's Ryse incoming action game obviously comes from the heart. "Spectacular, deep and emotional" should be the adventure of Marius Titus, Yerli said in an interview at E3 2013 in Los Angeles.  And unique: "No God of War, Uncharted No, not Batman."  Even though he was a big fan of this title, Ryse should play differently: arcadiger.

Ryse use the DVR function of the Xbox One to automatically record the best fight scenes in the background, and upload to the cloud from Microsoft.  What clips are stored, currently depends on the combo meter to the fighting.  Over the Xbox Live network, players can thus look at the most exciting fights of their friends and try to beat them.  Yerli calls this a "high score revolution."

Has focused on high-end technology company Crytek already discovered bottlenecks in the Xbox one?  Yerli denied not directly.  Crytek have already noticed some, but be absolutely satisfied with the performance of Microsoft's new hardware.  While the studio for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 "backwards developed" have, it could create new and unique graphics to the Xbox One.

The best example of this is the implementation of performance capture in Ryse, Yerli says.  The old consoles were not created for it.  Where performance capture has come only in the cut scenes, all data in Ryse come directly into play.

Ryse from the outset supported Smart Glass and Kinect 2.0.  But Microsoft's motion control is to "be used in a natural way," said Yerli.  Anyone still play some night Ryse, will not have to wake the neighbors by loudly yell "fire" through the living room, but he could.  All actions are optional, but also implemented a button.

"Ryse should play differently: arcadiger."

I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Still a little afraid the gameplay will be simplified and remind more of Kinect Star Wars rather than God of War.

Also, the Kinect functions seem so tacked on and superfluous. I know it started as a Kinect only project but still, it all just feels so artificial and gimmicky.

But, that bright shining metal on those character models. Wow.

What? I didn't ever play GOW but wasn't the gameplay something like x,x,x,x,x,x,x,△△△△,x,x,x,x,△,△○,○,○,x,x,○,○,□,□,x,□,x,△?

On normal difficulty GoW is like that, but on higher difficulties combos do matter and you must have the patience to learn them if you wanna be successful.

Yes, Kinect features are optional but when a game is designed with those in mind I don't think you can eat the cake and still have it. I don't think the experience will feel great with both control methods, it's gonna suffer on either one.

I didn't know Ridley Scott was the one behind Gladiator.
