Forums - Gaming Discussion - Who here will be boycotting Xbone?

I will not boycott anything, but eventually I might buy a used Xbox One that someone realizes they cannot use because they do not have internet. I usually buy all consoles anyway.

It's pretty much going to be WiiU and probably PS4 in a few years for me. I had a 360, but the whole concept of the XBone doesn't appeal to me at all. Don't like to be controlled by MS everyday, plus i don't wanna be forced to buy Kinect when i'm sure i will never buy a game that requires it. My internet connection is stable and fast, but i just don't see why i should have to connect to Live every 24 hours to be able to play my games. And in 10 years when the servers are being shut down, the One and it's whole library will be useless, so no thanks.

No they are not.

Not enough people will make a 'big deal' out of this and MS will sell the Xboxone just fine. Which will mean in the future it's all up to Microsoft what will happen with and to your product. Getting a ban for swearing in an online game, we'll disconnect your box for a month...

They are looking for total consumer control and by the looks of it people will simply allow that. So far there are not near enough benefits to warrant these changes. But hey, everyone is free to choose as they will.

OT:

As long as these new consumer friendly ideas remain at the box, i won't buy one. I did like it's features though.

If you behave like a jerk, you will be banned from online multiplayer and rightfully so. You can still play single player games. So nothing changed actually.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

I never had any interest so...

Yes?

Didn't we used to boycot Ubisoft and Activision and promised not to buy their games? How did those boycots ended? Did we win?

Gamers are too lazy, too unfocused, too disorganized, and too unfocused, COMBINED with too much in need for new content, to be able to stage any sort of boycott to get companies to change their mind.  Companies FULLY calculate ticking off numbers of people, and making decisions.  They live and die by this, far more than gamers.  So boycotts won't work to change policy.  People CAN vote with their feet, and do what is best for them.  Beyond this though?

Well, there is petitioning to GET content in a market (Project Rainfall) which seem to work though.

If people can go to Wii U, PS4, or PC for their gaming needs, and NOT put up with the DRM stuff, they will.  The protests are over being loyal to a brand and feeling like the company betrayed you.  People who don't like Sony aren't protesting; they are gloating.

Is it really boycotting if the choice for me for my primary next gen was between ps4 and xbox one? I ended up choosing the ps4 because of the cost and it provides more convenience.

I will boycott Xbox1, right after I get it and play the living crud out of it. Boycott I will!

If the games cost at least 20 dollars/euros less than before, then I'm fine with online DRM. As a matter of fact, I don't like getting off the couch to swap discs.

Thats actually pretty interessting what you said there.. what if the games are 10 to 15 bucks cheaper on the Xbone then the PS4 because of the DRM? We have seen PC games go cheaper then their console counterparts.. we should make a thread about it..

Consoles have gatekeepers with them, and also restictions that prevent certain content from appearing.  There are barriers of entry involved with it.  Quality processes are in place also.  End result is that the PC games market is able to do what you don't see on consoles, with FAR more studios making stuff.   There are factors to drive down prices on the PC front that are not there with consoles.  So, you aren't going to get cheaper than now at all.
