Forums - Microsoft Discussion - So... How is Microsoft going to ruin the "your family" loophole?

FYI, this policy puts MS somewhat on par with what Sony already has for digital titles.

If you buy a digital title from PSN, you can activate it on 2 unique systems. Any number of accounts can access those titles on those 2 systems. Through your account management, you can activate and deactivate systems at will (so you can share with your family members).

Based on what MS said, you can use a title from any number of systems from 2 specific accounts. Through account management, you can add and remove member accounts from your "family" account.

This is a huge improvement over the current policy from MS that would only let one account on one console access the content (with the option to transfer once every 4 months).

For physical discs, it's a completely different story...

I agree, but the important question is whether it will work how they are implying it will.

Yusuf Mehdi already said it doesn't have to be your family. It's like a Fave 10 concept.

There's some other trickery there that can allow people to create their own rental business. I pretty sure MS is thinking about stopping that.

I'd bet its just a list of any 10 Live members you choose with the only limitation that they must be your Live friend for at least 30 days similar to the gifting rule.

Unless pre-orders are really low, MS will probably stick with the policies they have.  I think any changes now could result in more bad PR.

Xbox LIVE Family Pack is a special feature of Xbox LIVE.

What the hell are you talking about and how does that fit in with the sharing of games with "family" in Xbox One?

The family gold plan and what is being talked about in this thread are not the same thing.

Well, my guess is that you can have ten friends, and at any one time, a single one of those friends can play a single game that I'm not playing.

They use the words "any one of your friends", and "at a given time".

Through just plain english this says "one person at a time", though it resembles "anyone at any time"

"any one of" (and not 'anyone' or 'any of') = one of a group
"at a given time" (and not 'anytime' or 'at any time') = at one specific time.

That's my call.

Which basically, as you theorized, makes it exactly like the psn system, because on psn, I get two licenses, and I can share one account with 9 friends and any one of my friends would then be able to play a game that I own at any given time. Notice my wording there.

I think it'll work like the Family Gold Membership, allowing an easy way of granting and denying access.

It sounds awfully similar.  So far I have not seen anything from Microsoft that would contradict that.  If you have, please share...

And yes, I know that they have "killed" the current Family Pack option, but I expect them to reincarnate this for the XB One (specifically the account management to add and remove members).
