Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One family sharing works with friends!

There's got to be a catch. Otherwise what's the deal with giving a game disc to someone and then you losing the ability to ever play that game again and that lending only being allowed to happen once for any disc? OTOH, if you give the disc to another friend and you are in their family circle (but they have 9 different people than your 10) does that mean you have access through their library?

So with one game purchase up to 20 people can completely play a game, over time. That's actually significantly worse than traditional used game sales because a game probably only gets re-sold 2 or 3 times.

And how does someone 3000 miles away get the game onto their HDD. There is no way you're gaming purely on the cloud.

It makes absolutely no sense to put in all sorts of crazy restrictions only to have a giant loophole which could end up being worse for new game sales than the existence of a used game market.

If it sounds too good to be true it probably is too good to be true.

If he couldn;t give comprehensive details it means he's probably hiding the downside.

Apparently the content holder (you) and 1 other person from your list of 10 can be playing any of the games at the same time. So it essentially works a lot like PSN sharing, only it includes retail, and isn't limited to only 2 people. They really need to start marketing this feature, it's a killer app.

This still makes no god damned sense. Why in the world would this happen after all the DRM BS? I mean, developers won't be pleased at all to learn people can just buy a game once then share it. Maybe theres a $5 fee or something? SOMETHING for the developer to get their money? Maybe a 48 hour trial of sorts? IE you can lend it but they can only play it for 48 hours... seems more reasonable for the developer.

OR this is limited to first party titles like Forza.

It's just that simple.

I don't think this will damper sales nearly as bad as people think it would. If I am on my Xbone playing a shared game with someone from my family list, then no one else on my family list can access my games. So it's not like it would be super easy to just play through the game whenever you want just because someone on your family list has it. There are still restrictions.

Once it installs to your friend's console it uninstalls from yours. Have fun installing and uninstalling games because that's what a lot of your xbox one time is going to be taken up with.

... none of this is accurate.
