Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One family sharing works with friends!

This is so aswome! straight from Mehdi:

It's a "family" affair

Since its announcement, there has been some confusion over the details of sharing your Xbox One game library with up to ten "family members." Mehdi couldn't give comprehensive details but he did clarify some things.

For one, a family member doesn't have to be a "blood relative," he said, eliminating the extremely unlikely possibility that the Xbox One would include a built-in blood testing kit. For another, they don't have to live in the primary owner's house—I could name a friend that lives 3,000 miles away as one of my "family members" Mehdi said.

You'll be able to link other Xbox Live accounts as having shared access to your library when you first set up a system, and will also be able to add them later on (though specific details of how you manage these relationships is still not being discussed). The only limitation, it seems, is that only one person can be playing the shared copy of a single game at any given time. All in all, this does sound like a pretty convenient feature that's more workable than simply passing discs around amongst friends who are actually in your area.

Good to know. I also bet $50 that this thread is the one to be locked. Takers?

Edit: There was an exact duplicate thread... I swear!! I Sweeeeaar!!

If I wanted to troll, I would post the ps4 how to loan used game video here.

But joking aside, this kinda has a positive feel to it.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

so all i need to do is searching for 9 other people. one buys a game, plays it for two weeks and gives it someone other and so on. (yes it is shared to everyone at the same time, but only one can play it so it would be better to say "you have it the first two weeks, and then you...")

i only buy every tenth game, but
i need to wait up to 20 weeks to buy something i haven't bought

i am totally in. please microsoft, do your DRM shit if this works as you say ;)

must-have-list for platforms i don't own yet:

WiiU: Donkey Kong

XBone: Dead Rising 3, Ryse

Thaty is awesome news. I wish it came directly from MS, so I will take it with a grain of salt. But if thats the case some of my friends will be very happy! We cant share games as they live to far away so sharing discs just isnt easy. I am not going to mail them back and forth and they are only in town a few times a year. Great news, if true, and a real positive.

I'm in. Give me your $50 ;P

Finally some good news. Why did they wait so long to clarify this, though? IMO the biggest mistake of the Xbone marketing. They let rumors grow far too long before shooting them down (if at all).

Awesome. I don't think I really bored any games since having the 360... This is great news. I still have the option, should it ever arise.

i have to ask who is Mehdi or the source?

If true, it sounds unbelievably generous and pro-consumer. It also is something that publishers would hate like nothing else. Can't wait to hear more on this, cause it's pretty difficult for me to believe this right now.
