I'm getting a X1 on launch day (have it pre-ordered already) and I plan to buy the PS4 within a year or two after it launches (probably after the first price cut).
As to the topic of hate, one thing that most people don't realize is that when they are faced with the maker of their favorite devices doing something that most people consider bad, most of them will still accept it and make justifications for it. We saw it with XBL costing money, Steam and how the whole DRM thing for that works, PSN + charging money for online play, and many, many others over the years.
I don't like a lot of The One's policies but I'm justifying my purchase because I know for me that the games and features will be worth it and am further justifying it by stating how these policies won't negatively effect me personally.
The most recent justifications that I've seen have come from online costing money on the PS4. There were a plethora of people justifying that by saying things like "I already pay for PSN+ so it's worth it for me.", or "The amount of deals and free games makes it all worth it." And in reality, that is just fine. When you're invested heavily into an ecosystem like XBL, PSN, Steam, or any device really, most people will justify and live with things that they don't like despite previously saying that they wouldn't support "this" or "that".
There's always a very small amount of people that will stick to what they say and not support a product that does something they don't like (even if they previously loved that product) but even half of those people will eventually cave in once it becomes the norm or they see something that is so good that they can't say no to it.
