Both Sony and Microsoft should have dropped in a 1tb drive.
They aren't much more expensive. (Think: $5-$10 in the consumer channel.)
And we have had 1tb platters for awhile now, so the drives themselves are not more sophisticated. - I.E. More unreliable/expensive to manufacture etc' due to multi-platter designs.
Oh and they're faster too!
Especially so for Microsoft as the Xbox One drive isn't user replaceable. (Is the PS4's replaceable?)
Plus, game sizes are expected to balloon this generation too, that 500Gb will go quickly when games have install sizes in the 20-50gb+ range and that's without DLC and such.
