Why would you jump out to the competitor that does the same thing?

Maybe because for the last several years Sony fans have lambasted Xbox fans for having to pay for multiplayer.  As I have it figured, $50 a year for either isn't a bad deal.

Stop hating and start playing.

I haven't had a chance to watch the Sony conference yet. I do have a few questions:

1) Does PS have the option of system link to play their games like Xbox?
2) Slightly OT (but DRM has been mentioned in more than just a few posts); is there no DRM or DRM is still left up to the publishers? Did they say anything about the online passes?
3) Since there is no B/C, what games will be offered in the beginning for PS4 Plus members?

Moving the online multiplayer behind the pay wall comes as no surprised. Many people pretty much knew this would happen. This may have some effect on the number of multi-console owners. I do not think most people are willing to pay for this option on two systems.

I also wonder if Sony plans on raising the price of Plus to equal the msrp cost of a year of Gold. Just the way they said less than $5 a month. Of course, I am not saying they will. Just kind of thinking out loud.

system link as in you can play your game on someone elses machine - cloud stuff all seemed to be a bit ongoing and we will get there eventually but at some point you will be able to play all games on a PS4 from what i could gather,

no mention of passes unless i missed it,plus for immersive online gameplay

driveclub plus edition- cannot rememebr what else was offered if anything

to be fair to microsoft i think they know where/what their services are doing but maybe i am wrong

No? Maybe  you missed the part where I was talking about people. It was such a short read.

If its people then are the ones that are willing to pay for online multiplayer on PS4 will be at fault also? Are they also part of the problem now?

Absolutely,  now it is a  part of the problem. There is a difference, at that time there was an alternative. Now there isn't. So if  you want to play games you have to accept it now. Plus you are not only paying for online multiplayer, you are paying for the services as well (You probably know them). It doesn't change the fact that they are part of the problem. We, gamers, have a big problem now. Maybe you are looking at it from Microsoft's perspective, I don't know. I only see a mess.

What are you talking about? There are still two alternatives. The Wii U AND the PC. You're just trying to excuse why Sony is doing this. You're just trying to justify it.

You will pay for this like those Xbox 360 people paid for Xbox Live, and whether you believe it or not. Like it or not. You're just like them! You contribute to the entire issue.

He's not looking at it from a Microsoft perspective. You're looking at it from a Sony perspective. Sony shouldn't get a free pass when they pull this shit either.

This is great and I told everyone this would happen. The meltdowns/hypocrisy in this thread is Oscar award winning

The ones seeming to have meltdowns, though, are not the Sony people. Still, it's a recoverable blip (for some, at most, not all) to what has been a fantastic day for SCEi, no matter how it's spun.

100% CGI

Sony still offer's free online Multi-player for a playstation platform, Only the PS4 being the exception. I would imagine Sony would have loved to keep ONLINE multi-player for 100% free, That is a big Benefit to the Gamer, And Sony knows they need all the good will they can get! If they did not want to keep it free, you would have seen Sony charge for the PS3's Multi-player much sooner, and Sony would have started with the PS3 not the PS4.

Playstation Gamer's still have an option open to them for free online multi-player, not just one playstation with just the PS3, but the PSVita, and even Playstation Mobile games also. atleast single player online Games would still be free on the PS4, not multi-player but still. You do not need PSN+ to play all playstation multi-player games on line for a fee, PS3 gamer's, PSVita Games still have multi-player game for free.

I AM BOLO

100% lover "nothing else matter's" after that...

ps:

Proud psOne/2/3/p owner.  I survived Aplcalyps3 and all I got was this lousy Signature.

Well as a PSN+ subscriber from my point of view I'm gaining cross game chat/party chat for no extra cost so I'm a happy camper! I've been begging for this feature on PS after using it on my 360 four years ago.

I don't know, maybe it's because I'm an older gamer now (30yrs old) but I remember paying £45 for brand new PS1 games of which absolutely none had online MP.
Now with PSN+ I get access to 50+ games games a year betas/discounts/free themes and soon to include online MP with party chat on the PS4. All for less than the cost of a PS1 game.

It's just an age of magic where my money seems to stretch forever and my biggest problem now is not scraping together enough money to beat boredom but the backlog i've accumulated because Sony throw more games at me than I have time to play.

£40 (30 on sale) for a year's worth of games, world class online muiltiplayer with party chat + more. It's a dream come true. I'm still in awe.

With the Ico collection, Kindoms of Amalur, Demon Souls and Rayman origins, Uncharted 3, X-Com and LBP Karting I think my PSN+ collection payed for itself this month alone.

It's a good time to be alive.

Wii U is not an alternative. It doesn't have any games.

I already have a PC, it doesn't get a lot of the games, or gets them late.

I never said that I will buy it. I don't think I will buy it (probably wouldn't afford it even if I wanted to since it will launch here with a price equivalent of 600$ or so) and if I do that down the road you can bet that I will never try to justify this requirement, will buy the PS4 despite the requirement. Saying this as a person who is subbed to PS+ for years by the way, this doesn't affect me one bit.

When I criticised Live everyone was arguing me it is a great service etc. when in fact, it wasn't. At least PS+ is an indeed great service. It is very different, you get what you pay for and more.  Just pointing out the differences, not justifying it.

I just want free online multiplayer i dont care about the other services. I want to buy a PS4 but it might never happen. To make it worse the fans are accepting the same thing they criticized Microsoft for. $400 plus $60 yearly does not seem like a good deal for me.

On the brigth side everyone who as psn+ wont see a different at all.

Absolutely. Let's say you actively use it for seven years. It is automatically a 750$ console. Xbone is 850$. I don't see any value in there for a person that only buys  a few games a year. For example I have many friends that only play Fifa for the entire year. This is terrible for them.

PS4 was an first year buy for me(when the launch price goes down a bit), now in the maaaaybe list. Certainly not an early buy. Just for the principle, I'm subbed to it for a few good years.

OK, I could maybe still buy PS4 when it's cheaper, as standard replaceable HDD, no cumbersome DRM, region free, no mandatory connection are still good things (with the latter feature allowing me to use it at my holiday houses like I always did with Intellivision many years ago, even with no phone line and shaky cellphone connectivity), but I'll stick to PC and Android for multiplayer.
