Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo lost their last third party support

Ubisoft discreetly severed support for the Wii U today, announcing only token versions of games that are already too deep in development to cancel (Watchdogs, AC) and casual games that are cheap to produce and port accross (Just Dance). This comes after Rayman Legends was delayed almost a year and then the shift from Wii U to Vita as the lead version of the game.

EA reaffirmed they have no interest in supporting the console. Activision seem uninterested and none of the smaller third parties are even bothering to bring any games over to Nintendo's system.

So what from here? Do Nintendo try to prop the Wii U up exclusively with first party games and second party arrangements? Or should they just call it quits and cut their losses to focus on the 3ds?

Why would they drop the Wii U cause of third party support, they never dropped a system cause of that. The Xbox One costs $500. What makes you think that it won't sell with reduced price, more advertising, more games, more models? Exactly.

This has always been the case more or less since the N64. It would be more surprising if 3rd parties actually jumped on the Wii U.

Even if this is true, Uibsoft isn't the only 3rd party company supporting Wii U. So the title of your post is incorrect at the very least. That said having a game far in development doesn't stop a company from cancelling a game, e.g. Aliens:Colonial Marines.

I'm sure nintendo tough/knew of this scenario and made themselves this question internally quite some time ago, they've had the answer you are looking for for some time now.

Yeah, you're right. I'm just disappointed! Nintendo were talking a lot about working hard to get third parties back onside. Oh well, will just have to buy one of the other consoles as well again.

well Nintendo should do more themselves like expand and shit all over 3rd parties! If I was Nintendo I would have been more aggressive in that department

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Didn't they make developers keep everything quiet last year? Maybe they are doing this again this time.

Anyone know how long the ND is going to be tomorrow?

Have Nintendo ever discussed any third party games during a Nintendo Direct? (that weren't part of a partnership/publisher deal)

I believe it's an hour but they don't have a console to show off or a conference so the possibilities are endless.
