Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One price : inflation adjusted for PS3 comparison

Sell it any way you want, but $500 is too much. If Sony is close, then both will do mediocre for first couple of years.

Clearly we will have no "Wii-like" blockbuster this gen.

Hopefully Nintendo takes advantage and drops to $299 with packed-in Super Mario or Mario Kart this holiday.

If Sony follow suit, Nintendo could well claw their way back into the market with a price drop and bundle of a "big" game.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

LOL what a nice spin. PS3 was worth every penny at $600 in late 2006. Cutting edge tech. The Xbone is not even a medium-range spec PC and it's inferior to the PS4 by about 50%. Overpriced as hell.

My God you would think we never had a console over 399.99 on the market but the very people here to hate were backing Sony when the PS3 was launching at a higher price tag.

Just wait til after the price for PS4 is shown, not only will it be higher but in typical fashion they will completely change their stance on price.

The PS4's launch price will be higher than $499.99? You actually think that?

There is no way, PS4 will be cheaper.  PS4 has to hit the groud running from a financial persepctive for Sony.

Quoted for reference.

I'm 100% certain PS4 wil have at least one model lower than $499.

Also what's with all the spinning going on in this thread. Does the OP work for MS or something?  $499 is still $499. It's fairly overpriced and cannot be compared to the PS3 at all which launched at the same price with cutting edge tech and power. The cost should be lower if anything as prices of electronics have come down slightly.

Oh crap, mis read it. You mean the PS4 will be cheaper right?

So the price is four hundred and ninety nine US Dollars...That's pretty high, the sales will drop hard after holidays, but not as much as WiiU sales because people at least will know that it exists...

I predicted it a few days back.

A $250 to $300 Wii U with Mario Kart, Super Mario, Wii Sports and/or Wii Fit along with a pricecut would do great in the holidays. Would have an impact on PS4 and One.

Also people can't compare it to the ps3 which had
1. Blu-ray, at the time a blu-ray players cost several hundreds of dollars.
2.Free online... forever!

Inflation doesn't really mean much if the average salary hasn't increased in proportion, which hasn't happened. Since 2006, the cost of living has increased but average income has pretty much flatlined. Therefore, there's much less disposable income for people to spend on non-essentials like games consoles.

You know all this Kowen so what was the purpose of the thread?

The PS3 included 7 years and counting of free online. That surely makes things better using your logic.
