Forums - Sony Discussion - We know about the Xone, so what will the PS4 cost?

What will the PS4 cost?

$299 3 1.09%

$349 19 6.91%

$399 92 33.45%

$449 95 34.55%

$499 40 14.55%

$549 6 2.18%

$599 19 6.91%

Total:274

Suddenly $400 looks really good.

If Sony comes out too high, it would no longer be able to set itself aside on price. And with Nintendo WiiU with a game at $350 (probably $300 by launch), two consoles at $500 vs one $300 could have a big impact on holiday shopping.

The economy is not that good right now globally. So thinking people are going to shell out big bucks for something new is a big risk.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

$499 is likely.
$450 would get them an advantage.
$399 would have it sell like hotcakes.

If Sony is mart they underprice Microsoft.

299

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

There is no way PS4 is ''50%'' more powerful, and launch cheaper. You can't have it both ways now, so make up your mind lol.

What most of you people don't understand is that the Xbox One's APU is more expensive than the PS4's, despite being less powerful because of the higher trans and fail rate on the Xbox One's APU. The only thing that will make the PS4 more expensive is the 8GB GDDR5 RAM. However if Sony has a SKU without the PS EYE they should be easily be able to undercut Microsoft to at least $399 with a SKU with the PSEYE for $499.

So PS4 is able to be twice as powerful as the Xbox One and still be cheaper so long as it doesn't come with the PS EYE.

$399 sku and $499 sku.

I originally had it pegged at a solid price of $399 based upon the hardware components, but with the MS announcement, who knows?

$499 if SCE revises their price point in the interest of maintaining margins. Let's face it; they don't have the luxury of offering $200+ "discounts" on their new console this time around. But given the design of the PS4 and the use of less expensive components relative to the PS3 when it was designed, I wouldn't be surprised if the iSuppli breakdown has the BoM priced at around $300 once retail versions are available for analysis.

lol Sony gonna under cut Microsoft.

Hopefully much less, at least in the UK. Still hoping for $399.

499.. there is no reason for Sony to go under it.. they can have some nice profits (which they really need as a company) if they trust their game liberary and brand power..

This.

They have so much going for them right now, no need to compete with price at this point.

Agreed. What's the point of selling more PS4's early for higher losses? They'll match it, for sure. They could undercut M$ but for the long run, is it worth the loss now?

Sony will definitely do better than that. I would say they will go with, at most, $449, with a possibility of it launching at $399. And I have to disagree with you on game stable comment. All Sony has to do is show FFV13 and a ND/SM IP for PS4 and Last Guardian for PS3, and they will have won E3. Of course, some of what both showed/will show are also multiplats.
