Well I won't have to worry about Live as I already have Live. But I getting a game or two with it will make it very expensive.

$499?! That's the exact same price the PS3 launched for. I'm guessing MS is in for a rough year or two after launch. Especially since Sony will most likely be beating them on price by $50-$100. I wish MS all the luck in the world, cause they are probably going to need it.

Well adjusted for inflation its actually cheaper.

Remember the economy is quite different than it was back in 2005/2006.It´ll be a tougher pill for the general consumer to swallow than 7 years ago.

Adjusted for inflation....$499 in 2013 is arguably a sweeter deal.

And we know MS is gonna subsidize and finance the crap out of this thing lol

The difference isn't much. Less than 100 dollars actually. And you still have to pay for live.

Sorry for bad English.

Too high for me to consider buying at launch. Might go back to Play Station this gen if they price right.

So am I right in saying that it's £4 more expensive than PS3's launch was in the UK (425 vs. 429) and 100 less than PS3'slaunch in the US 599 vs.499)? That can't be right, surely

The UK pricing is really bad, really.

£429 is essentially $666.

Then you add on the Live sub.

Yeah.A lof of people is forgetting you have to pay to play online.

Even without live, that's higher than the PS3 price at launch.

Think of it as forcing PS Plus on everyone

Free games will make up for cost alone, but then theres that LIVE is just faster, more convienent/seamless, and more apps.

I'm not at all surprised by the price. Although I always knew it was going to be too high, sooo... yeah.

The launch date isn't a surprise either. Nintendo did this with the Wii U and it worked out well (for the first few weeks) so why can't Microsoft try to find the same footing, too?

That's a bit too high, I think. Not to say that you aren't getting some incredible games for that price, because you are.

I never planned on getting one at launch, but I was thinking I'd get it some time next year. Now I'm not quite as sure, I might wait for a price cut (though I'm not planning on investing too much more into the 360, so I suppose I'll have those funds to spend on the X1). I'm definitely going to go light on game purchases for the rest of this year.

Also, Microsoft better hope that the PS4 doesn't cost too much less. If the PS4 comes out at $399 or lower, Microsoft might be in trouble (in the short term, anyway).
