I don't agree.

I don't see why you say it looks better up-scaled on Dolphin.

The Wii U remake is using updated shaders and new textures to enhance the look of the game and make it brighter and bring out the color. It's also a safe bet that they're updating some of the character models and animations to make it appear more modern.

Also... gameplay enhancements. Touch pad control. High-speed sailing.

Aside from all that, let's just talk about presentation.  The remake runs in native 1080p, and it's in 16:9.

Even if you upscaled the original to run in full HD, it would still never be 16:9 unless you stretched the aspect ratio, but then it distorts the images and makes it look terrible.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

Looks like they've swapped the idea of new content with balancing out the travel aspects.

Initially, new content was going to do the balancing but they probably decided it's much easier on development to tweak the travel rather than add brand new content to achieve the same purpose.

What a load of nonsense!

Achieve the same purpose!?

What purpose is that.

They were going to add new content between those long duration ocean travels to break up the monotony and to reduce the player let down of a long voyage with little pay off (for the small islands with long journeys).   Since dev time was getting short, they cut the new content and instead created a faster means of travel.  That way the journey and payoff are more balanced than the original GC iteration.

I don't really want to argue this any more, but calling a 'fast travel' mechanic a balancing mechanism is...

they redoing the graphics, They using it to experiment with new cell shading ideas which HOPEFULLY WILL NOT be used in the new Zelda.

why not? cell shading looks cool as hell and it still hasn't appeared alone in a zelda game. by that I mean that wind waker, while cell shaded, had an over cartoonized art direction. i'm looking forward to the tradicional zelda style + cell shading and looking cooler than the prince of persia that used the effect.

Whatever they do will (as always) be incredible I suppose.

Personally I'd like to see TWO next gen Zeldas. One in the Wind Waker universe/time with more islands and dungeons. And one in Hyrule with sharp, realistic HD graphics.

I'm not holding my breath though.

Did you play it at the Best Buy Wii U experience? It does not look better on the dolphin emulator at all. Wii U version will be definitive

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

A man can dream.

I'm one that played the original, but never had the chance to own it. I'm just glad I have another chance to acquire it! :)

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

Why must it be realistic? What is the draw of that?
