Halo has not been doing copy and paste anything so far. Even most COD's haven't been doing it that much if you actually take the time to play the games and find out.

Compared to what, Fifa ? I am very sorry but Halo and CoD are the most repetitive games I know.

Hmmm...one problem with MS game-wise is whatever game they show @E3 that is not exclusive, it is automatically advertising for the PS4 because of its raw power, it doesn't take anyone tech-savvy to know that game will be better on the PS4.

That worked out great with the ps3 and all of its multiplats too.

First of all, let's take a notorious case of a bad port: Bayonetta, which ended up selling more on the PS3. So we can't draw anything conclusive here. 360 being dev friendly meant you got some random games like Bayonetta and Skyrim having a clear advantage but most games had a difference of a 3% screan tear or 4 fps at some level or some texture. That was stuff practically unnoticable to the gamer and it was sometimes in favor of the 360 and some in favor of the PS3. This gen has none of that ambiguity. This gen has raw power.

Dev friendly != raw power.

Are the so called casual still that interested in console gaming? I mean look at the wii since 2011

If you ask me when it comes to casuals, we are grossly underestimating tablets and smartphones.

Do not underestimate Microsoft, they will throw money at the Xbone to ensure it sells. Remember how viciously Microsoft can market their games? How quickly we all seem to forget how they will get timed exclusives, probably something like Metal Gear Solid. They will hit hard, Halo Reborn will be on the side of every Mountain Dew can.

They will find a way to get a bunch of EA exclusives, and if need be, Micrsoft would take huge losses to essentially give these boxes away because they know a monthly live fee will be coming their way. They will shamelessly partner up: install DirecTV, get a $99 Xbox One! buy a windows laptop, get a $99 Xbox One!

Most people are idiots, and Microsoft is counting on that

I think this is one of the main reason people talk about this DRM stuff this much - there is not much left to hate on.

How about how they abandon their consoles at the end of their lifespans?

You're talking about the first Xbox, right? Because I don't see how they have abandoned the 360.

Although I would agree that COD adds nothing worthwhile to each installment, Halo at least changes some things or adds new elements.

Don't give a shit about their profits. As long as everyone can agree that the bone loses as a games console then it's fine.

(of course they can still turn around that ship)

Kinda like Nintendo did with all three of their previous consoles?  of course, the N64 and GC were on their last legs entering their 5th year on the market respectively, but even the Wii which is now their best selling console of all time had the plug pulled on it more than a year before its successor even arrived, and that along with the cumbersome launch of the Wii U has killed off all momentum that Nintendo had built up over last gen.

M$ pulling the plug on the original Xbox was a strategic move on their part to get as many Xbox gamers as possible to become early adopters of the 360, and it paid off in spades for them.  The original Xbox was pretty much dead at the end of '05 anyway... no major games were coming out for it with the exception of the typical yearly multiplatform titles.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

You may think that way but I don't (especially with Halo). If that were the case those games wouldn't sell anywhere near as well.

Great arguments all around, respect to everyone, but, after reading everything in the thread, I stand with what I said in the original post. Very cool discussion thought.

The story in every Halo is so unique and a part of the whole universe, that alone is more evolution than most gaming series see over numerous sequels.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

your high go home! no but seriously, people arent going to shell out 400 plus for a kinect 2, the Kinect wasnt that popular. THis isnt going to be the Wii not even close

non gamers could do all that crap better on stuff they most likely own.

I agree with everything else.

The Kinect was extremely popular. Kinect is probably the most successful add-on ever, it moved a lot of software, gave the 360 a casual userbase, and boosted console sales. It was a bigger success than most imagined and people are still buying it. It didn't just fade into obscurity like other add-ons we saw this generation.

really?? How well have Kinect titles been doing? Hell when was the last Kinect game realeased? Its selling? Of course it is, it comes with the damn system. Thats like me telling Wii Sports good job for being packaged with the damn Wii.

They should do a HALO RPG, more like the first Mass Effect, but much more open, you could travel the space in cool spaceships and visit alien worlds and stuff like that. That would be very cool.

I remember Star Wars BATLEFRONT on the PS2, you could invade the enemy ship with smaller craft and, then, to get off the ship and blast the enemy, do some sabotage... cool game. Pandemic also made a great job on MERCENAIRES, I miss then.
