Why would anyone want to buy a console that forces you to check in every 24 for hours or it won't let you play. I thought videogames were meant to be fun.

Welcome to the digital age, luddites. Steam is working out just fine, there was the same backlash before but now we get great sales, redownload anytime you want, and play on multiple PCs. The benefits of steam far outweighs the cons and discs do not last forever, they get broken, lost, or rot which means you are SOL.

Disc based gaming and lending out to friends was a loophole waiting to be closed, because it's more fair that the devs get paid per person who plays the game. They just didn't have anyway of tracking that so it probably was built into the price of the game. This way it will probably be more fair instead of eventually making games to be hundreds of dollars to account for the leechers who don't contribute back anything even though they get to play the game for free or nearly free as a loaner or rental.

Get used to the fact that console consumers are not ready to give up their rights to ownership just yet. MS jumped the gun on everyone and they are deservedly being responded to as such. Digital is good for something but it is a secondary measure on consoles.

This is fucking terrible. Anyone who buys an Xbone and endorses this kind of policy is doing a disservice to gaming.

I could actually swallow the no-used game bullshit.

But the 24 hour online check seals the deal for me. No way in hell I'd get this console.

If Sony does the same, btw, I'm out.

I fully endorse the benefits Xbox one looks to offer with its always on aspect, and I don't see anything dealbreaking with these policies... So I guess I'm doing a disservice to gaming.

Looking forward to building my personal Xbox One gaming collection that I can access anywhere and anytime.

Are you for real? NO, you CANNOT access your "Xbone gaming collection anywhere and anytime" because you MUST BE FUCKING CONNECTED to the Internet.

So you go to an island, to a farm, somewhere not connected, you cannot play at all.

Seriously, I see from your history here that you like MS, but I don't think it's reasonable to defend this kind of bullshit against us all.

You will see me attacking Sony the day they do the same bullshit to us. Write that down.

If I'm at an island or a farm I'll go enjoy the sun or play some soccer...Its more fun than videogames.

Gaming priority for me falls between "there is no hockey on tv" and reruns of Seinfeld.

In 15-20 Years time, when the Xbox One is no longer supported and the servers shut down...

What will consumers do with Xbox One videogames?

What makes you think that the 8th gen will last 15 years..let alone 20

But its not good for teh gamign indsutriesd if these people rely on borrowing and play tthje game and finish sp capaigns and then play the multiplayer without havign to spend a single dime RIGHT? 10 cpas for family members is  abit small but i guessing its based on per household and they easily increase it with a patch. People comp, aining ae just too greedy and want everythign to be free

You're jumping to conclusions that do not exist.

There are laws about used clothes, cars, books, music, (fill in any other physical commodity)....

If you buy it, you own it. That is it.

I bought a game on a disc for $60... $45.. $15. It doesn't matter what I do with it, I own it. If I want to give it to my nephew because his poor parents can't afford shit.. I should be able to. If he then wants to give it to his little brother... he should be able to.

If I want to resell it on eBay so I can buy some other new game or new console by selling all my used shit, I should be able to.

This is 100% bad for consumers of every industry because if it works and is accepted, say goodbye to used everything that can be digitally tracked.

I can say ti everyoen here who assumes taht sonmy won't do it based on vague answer givien by sony employers. They hav eyet ot explain in detail how their policy works. I respect your opinion. However gaming is a luxury hobby . Its not jsut a hobby that can be picke dup anyone. For example if you are in really low socio economic category then  you shouldn't be be gaming at all. You should be  focussing on how to support family, yourself, getting an education  and so on. Gaming would be least of their worries.  If he has a console but can't buy all the games then all he needs to do is to wait till the game priuces dropped and then uy it. Is taht really hard for people to do these days or do peopel expect to get off scott free? When you buy a game, you are purchasing the right to use that license and thats  it. Anyone who borrows teh game is still the previosu owner llicense intead of supporting teh developer and payign for tehir own license ot play it. That has being going on since the ps1 days and teh drm stuff for it could hav e been eaasily implemented if they wanted to do. The only difference this gen its closely monitored so studios who develop the game gets thesale tehy deserve. Tell me this ,, is it okay for us to prevent a slae of agme  incerasing teh chance of clsoign a studio dsown because we decied to laend our games ot friend who would never spend a penny ?  This policy by MS reminds me of Steam and it works perfectly.

I expect that if I use my parents holiday house on a greek island. That I can take my gaming system with me if I so please. Also I guess I cant give my system/games to my less fortunate friends if I want to.

Also NO Developers and Publishers have not the right to get money from a resale. That assumption is just crazy. Who gave them the right ? Since when can anyone who produces a product demand money if it gets sold to a third party ? Does SOny Pictures get another 5 bucks if I sell my Spiderman Blurays ? Does some musician get a cut if I sell a CD ? ALso lets not go there with but games are 60 bucks. Thats BS I have books that are 120 and I can still resell them and plenty of people do because they are expensive.

Also I really doubt used games cut deep. People who dont have the money to buy new. Wont do it anyway even if there are no used games. They will simply wait or look for alternatives. Because they simply CANT Buy that game. But now the guy who originally sold the game cant buy a new one either because he cant sell the game he doesnt like anymore.

Lets be honest here Videogames are a middle class persons hobby. Those are the customers. They dont have tons of money to throw around. Sure there are gamers with money too but why dont we see 150 Dollar Games ? Because people can not afford it. Eliminating used sales is just a trick.

A trick to force customers to have to use a certain online service aslong as they want to play the game. Thats fine for games which are Multiplayerbased. But its stupid and pointless to do that with a game like Skyrim. Even in 20 years you will have to use Xbox Live to play Fallout 4. MS basically disowns the customer. The best thing is that one day XBox Live becomes mandatory for cloud reasons and you will have to pay forever to get access to your games.

And the whole used games thing. Just to be clear it is designed in a way that makes it unappealling to resell the games at all.

The mode is not exclusive to XBox. CONTENT for that mode is exclusive.

Im thinking more for retro purposes.

People still play SNES. People still play old school PC games. People still play PSone games. Etc.

When Microsoft eventually drop the Xbox One servers, which they will, is the Xbox One just going to literally be a TV box?

Of course you dont have a problem with anything microsoft does ever.

You like what they tell you to like.

If sony was doing this and microsoft was not your sentiments would be the opposite.

I swear its like you've known me all my life...

Nah HUGE fanboys are easy to spot.

Even if they think they are not fanboys well looking down on another group of fanboys well showing the exact same behavior as those fanboys.

haha, fanboys eh...you know intelligence is running low when fanboy finger pointing start,.

What if nintendo was doing it? What would I do then? Tell me more...

If they bring Halo to PC, no X1 for me, but since they wont I have no choice. But w.e i usually only play MP in games anyways. I rarely invest in single player games, since there is no replay value once you are done.

I do not share games anymore since i do not have time, but honestly why. This is completely unnecessary MS, but Sony is leaving it up to their publishers who will do it lol. This gen looks like it will suck ass too much.

So what if you're a college/university student living in dorms and your campus doesn't allow internet connection for video game consoles? What if you're someone in the armed forces and you can't access the internet?
