Forums - Gaming Discussion - Is anyone excited for the PS4 and XboxOne anymore, because I'm starting to feel overwhelm?

While I will admit that all this DRM talk (and the uncertainty around the details of how it will all work) my enthusiasm has been deflated a bit, but I am definitely still looking forward to this coming console generation. I expect to be picking up the Xbox One myself, though I still need to see what games Microsoft has cooking for it (which we will see at E3, can't wait! Fingers crossed for Crackdown 3).

I might get a PS4 somewhere down the line (once the price goes down), if their exclusives impress me; PS3 exclusives haven't been that interesting to me for the most part, but who knows, maybe Sony will have a few new IP in this generation that really grab my attention.

I sympathise, DRM has put a massive damper on everything. Instead of just looking forward to next gen software and hardware, we're now sat here trying to figure out exactly how much we're all going to get fucked for the next generation of gaming.

I'm more excited than ever actually ;)

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

I've never seen such negativity at the start of a gen before. I just hope Sony quiets our fears at E3.

I never been much of a fan of the Xbox brand and I was hoping the new Xbox (XboxOne) would suck me into the console and brand, but to be honest, It just made me feel even more alienated. Its not only just the DRM/used game issue ,but I never like how Xbox Live work. I felt PSN offer more for a better value compare to Xbox Live.

Now I'm hearing rumors that the PS4 will probably follow microsoft footsteps. Sony was going to announced their plans for DRM, but after the back lash at Microsoft, they decided to put it on hold. Not to mention, while 7 free ram is great for devs, I feel Sony are making the same mistake just like the Vita. Focusing too much on powerful, how the heck can anyone afford that just like the Vita, I can buy that, and worst of all, none of my content won't carry over to the PS4 so I can't trade in my PS3. Plus, imaging how much it must cost to built these systems is nightmarest (if thats a word lol). No one won't use all that power so you can probably expect most games running in 1080p at 60 FPS ,but who's willing to pay for that tech, knowing Sony won't be lowering the price anytime soon because they can't afford it and I don't want to sound like one of those people ,but I pretty much consider the Vita a failure at this point.

I'm not saying the Wii U is perfect ,but for what it is, it have a better value. Plus at this point, I'm even considering the Ouya and Game Stick as part of the console race. There some exclusives that have me interested into the Ouya.

I'm not saying the PS4 or XboxOne will be a instant failure, especially the XboxOne, the Xbox brand is extremely popular in America so I'm sure the Xbox will be find, as far as I know.

With all this drama going on, felt I had to get this off my chest.

PS: I hope the Sly Cooper IP become a Nintendo exclusive in the future, seeing how Sony treated that game in advertisement compare to other exclusives. Not one single TV ad, no wonder that game did bad in sales. :(

Plus: The PS2 and Gamecube are my all time favorite consoles.

I'm actually old enough to not care about real life anymore and instead pay total attention to the internet, so yes, I'm still excited. I'll get to see the beginning and end of a Battle of Generations this time!

No, I'm still excited for this upcoming gen.

UPDATED!! Sony employees acknowledge the people who are worries about the PS4 having DRM on twitter.

But they haven't actually confirmed anything. Just that they're happy to see passionate fans. Sony is likely to sugarcoat their DRM / used game inhibitors as *much* as possible in order to avoid backlash.

Read between the lines. This is as close as you can get to an official confirmation that DRM isn't being implemented.

Now, online passes? I'm sure that will continue. It's up to the publishers.

I'm still happy with this generation to be honest, what with all the great games coming out. I might as well let the dust settle on this next gen and hope all the dodgy problems with it go away. Also, i wish people would not treat Nintendo as last gen, it trades some power for innovation
