Because, the 3DS came back with big support of both Nintendo and 3rd parties, along with a very nice price cut.

As far as we have seen, Nintendo is not making any money on the WiiU so a price cut that big would hurt very much. Many a 3rd parties are flat out not making games for the system. So that basically leaves them with first party Nintendo titles, which yes, they have arguably the best games, and by far the best selling games. However, I don't think the WiiU has anything in its bag of tricks to make the experiences new.

In the case of the Vita, it has one last hope in the PS4. It is in the same situation as the U in it is getting no software support.

For both of them though, E3 is just around the corner.

Because the more expensive PS4/Xbone are not out yet. As soon as they release the WiiU will be fine with the new releases and maybe a pricecut.

Because some people have:

1. Selective memories.

2. Agendas and bias.

3. Ignorance of circumstances (fancy way of simply saying 'they don't know').

4. It's hip to knock on Nintendo.

5. Happens with every single Nintendo console.

Because handhelds are a totally different market. Nintendo has always reigned the handheld space and it's just a matter of time before their next literation of the gameboy replaces the old one. In the console market Nintendo went flat on it's face though ever since Sony entered the market. The Wii was a surpising succes but only because they managed to lure in a new market that was more or less untapped by Sony and MS. Nintendo has the perfect brand for a family friendly gaming machine but this time they also want to reach the core gamers. That just isn't working out for them and it might be a bit to hardcore to get the casual gamers back.

Because I can count with the fingers of just one hand the number of Japanese 3rd party games released this year.
