People think the system sales are bad, but what about all the people who downloaded their Wii U's?

Wii U hasn't been hacked yet, so it can't be pirated. I wonder how many downloaded their 360's, PSP's and Wii's though. Must be an astronomical number.

Of course it has been hacked: http://fail0verflow.com/blog/2013/espresso.html It just wasn't released to public because of no interest from the hackers.

A Wii U is a physical object and can not be downloaded.

This is, in general, why _software_ sales mean less and less. HW is the number that's important. As far as the WiiU goes, that puts the WiiU in dangerous territory.

That's what I thought when I read the title. :p

I always thought it's the physical copies are tracked, wasn't that announced before, like after the DS??? ~_^

Doesn't that make the numbers rather useless? Judging from Wii U owners I know, and the impressions I get on the web, downloading is fairly common, so the actual numbers could be way off what VGChartz has.

Not at all. The sales here should reflect 85% to 90% of all sales on WiiU, so just add 10%-15% to our numbers.

Q1 2013 breakdown showed 11% digital sales across 15 Nintendo published titles on 3DS.

Ah, I see. In that absence of tracking, it's a workable compromise I guess.

Considering how small the Wii U storage is, I don't see digital distribution really being big enough to make physical sales irrelevant. Physical is still the dominant format and it will be for a long, long time.

I thought the Wii U was compatable to peoples existing external storage devices much like a PC?

Physical copy is all they can track and that's not 100%.
