Forums - Politics - America's infrastructure is deteriorating, 50 Chicago Schools are closing - Where The F**k is all our tax money going? When is enough, enough?

Generally when schools get more lotto money they receive less other money, that the states then use on other stuff.

Example (Though non Illnois example.)

Meanwhile every year we buy billions in weapons that we never use.

Only way to recede this wave of bad news is to call all these problems Xbox One and there will be a country wide rage claiming for change.

There is a bridge that is VERY important to my area and millions of cars travel across every year. It is estimated to be 20 years past due on needed a massive overhaul or a new bridge constructed due to structural integrity and being used far more than built for. "The bridge was designed to carry 85,000 vehicles per day, but in 2007 it carried 155,000 vehicles per day"

One day it will fall into that river if nothing is done and billions will be lost because nobody want to pay for a new bridge.  The richest poorest country in the world is how I feel at time.

Infrastructure is deemed to expensive to replace but we would all be fucked without it. Governments need to invest to get people and goods moving.

you ask where the money goes?

well ,bernanke is spending each month 85 billion for quantative easing, the rest is going to the military, wall street and bankers. No money left for infrastructure and other unnecessary things.
Isn't chicago ruled by former Barak chief Rahm Emmanuel?

So what I got from that is, even if lottery does really well and schools get more money, other funding goes down and is sent somewhere else.

Still, where is all this money going and being redirected to? They are just wasting our money. Plus taxes seem to be huge here in Illinois. What for! Same with some other states. Sales tax in Tennessee is around 8-10 percent the last time I was there. Every dollar you give them, they just find a new way of wasting  or spending it, instead of using it wisely.

Often times?  Pet projects to political cronies, and to help themselves.

Though it's federal, a good example is Harry Reid.  Harry Reid became senator, bought a bunch of land... and has spent his whole career in congress lobbying for roads and infrastructure to be build right next to his land.... becoming rich in the progress.

Not only does nobody bat an eye at this, he's now the Democratic Leader of Congress.   (Republicans are just as guilty of this.  Reid is just an easy target because I live in Nevada currently.)

It's either not maintained properly or it wasn't built properly to start with. But some future, America has. Time to raise tax on the rich again, ban all tax havens and reduce spending on unnecessary areas like military. Depressing that a developed country is having such problems with infrastructure funding. Alongside healthcare and education, infrastructure is among the most important things for an economy to remain strong whether it's the poorest or richest country in the world. America clearly has money but isn't using it well

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

'When the people are being beaten with a stick, they are not much happier if it is called the people's stick'- Mikhail Bakunin

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

they spend the money on ALIEN tech...all the alien sightings happening in the last 40 years its no wonder...but its still early for humanity to go that path but when we arive at our highest point then things will get better..

Oh and looking at it. It seems the argument made for closing the schools is that people with kids are fleeing Chicago so fast that many of the schools are underpopulated.

"District officials said enrollment declines and students shifting to charter schools—public schools run by independent groups—have left 100,000 extra classroom seats in the city. The figures are based on the district’s ideal class size of 30 students; currently, most schools have between 24 and 28 students in each classroom, according to district documents."

I live in the south suburbs about 20 mins from Chicago, 10 years ago this was such a great place to live, now I am actively looking to move out of this state. Somewhere taxes aren't insane and violence isn't occuring every other damn minute.
