Don't compare to Forza....

What does Gran Turismo 6 need to do, for you to consider it a success (sales and/or quality wise)?

---

For me, the car roster needs to be improved. I can't remember the exact statistics, but GT5 had something like 20% of its car roster as Nissans, and over 50% of the cars were Japanese. How can Polyphony Digital release a game with over 30 Nissan Skylines, but only 3 Mustangs? GT5 didn't even have the most recent Mustang, an I felt that was just embarassing considering older racing games, and even NFS had this car.

I would also like to see more unique events (like Top Gear, Benz Acadamy, Go-Karts, etc), and the removal of B-spec. I would like to get a Platinum in GT6, but B Spec is the most boring feature ever.

I like the inclusion of Standard cars, especially entry level sports cars like the Acura CL and BMW 120d. These are sports cars a lot of us drive, but I don't like how there are almost no American/European entry level sports cars. Where is the Dodge Neon SRT-4, the Saturn Sky or the RWD Ford Crown Victoria? I hate how the game includes minivans like the Honda Odyssey, and the Daihatsu Midget when it painfully omits a lot of great American/European cars.

Why did PD waste time including garbage like this when they could have easily put in more then 3 Mustangs, and some other American/European cars?

Um menus? And Car roster. I don't want to see old models of older cars.

First your points...

1. The cars roster needs to improve... so I agree... even so the 30 Nissan Skylines have a different way of driving for each car... so that is the reason why GT5 have 20+ Nissan Skylines.

2. That's a good point and this time I disagree... the GT community didn't like these kind of Special Events... most want that PD remove Go Kart and others special events... what they really want is a better A-Spec mode like GT4 or GT3..... and they want a B-Spec like GT4.

Now I will talk about what myself expected from GT6.

- More cars
- More tracks
- More cars customizations... not cosmetics but customizations that change the car feeling at driving.
- More cars damage... again not cosmetics but engine damage like oil leak, gear box failures, engine failures, etc.
- Better cars physics (Aerodynamic, Mechanical, etc)
- Better driving physics for each car
- More tunning adjustments
- More tunning parts... not cosmetics but that make your car race better or worst
- Unique feature in cars... like wing adjustments for the F1 2010
- Better AI
- Better Drifting
- More Endurance Races (mixed A-Spec with B-Spec)
- Event Creator
- Training lap before races
- Qualifying
- Online Seasonal Events (to play with others guys)
- Online marketplace
- Online clubs
- Better online rules, options, modes... lol everything enhanced
- Better track editor

There are a lot more... I can't list everything lol

lol ethomaz summed it up, way to kill the thread

1. Okay, there are 23 Honda S2000's and a good dozen of them, have virtually no differences. The difference between S2000's in Europe, Japan, and Americas for the 99, 01, and 03 Models are largely cosmetic.

So why have those, when they are missing entire generations of Mustangs, BMW M3's, Camero's, etc?

2. Maybe, but this is what I want. I like Top Gear, and I want to see more involvement from them.

As for the rest, most of those features are coming to GT6, are they not?

but good job mentioning Car Damage. I hated how you could "ping Pong" cars on turns. I know there were penalties in licencing, specials, and higher level races, but it's not the same.

Double post... hihi

So far I will make some comments about what PD released... my comments are in bold.

New Game Engine
• Refactoring
• Compact, nimble operation
• Flexible expandability
• A new rendering engine that pushes the limits of the PS3

A new game a new game engine... I can't expect anything less from PD.

New Physics Engine
• New suspension and kinematics model
• New tire model
• New aerodynamics model
• Technical partnership with Yokohama Rubber and KW Automotive

Maybe the best improviment showed for now... the new physics engine is great... the suspension now seems close to real life... this is what makes the driving way more realistic.

A prefer always a priority in this part.

1200 Cars, abundant custom parts, and on-going DLC
• From historic cars to the latest racing cars, the game contains a total of 1200 cars.
• Multiple aerodynamic parts and custom wheels will be available for almost all cars.
• Players can create their own personalized custom car in the game.
• Cars will be continually added online

More cars is nice but what makes me happy are the abundant custom parts and multiple aerodynamic parts... if these parts change the way the car is drive then it will be EPIC.

33 locations, 71 layouts
• 33 Locations and 71 layouts will be provided from day1 (7 more locations and 19 more layouts than GT5)
• More new tracks will continue to be provided online

Another high priority improviment... I need always more tracks/locations... but not only the real ones because the best tracks in GT games are these created by PD... so a mix of real tracks and PD creation is a good ideia... GT6 needs boths types of tracks... I will love to see Interlargos .. a way better track editor incluing to share online for others players will be great too.

New Course Maker
• Massive scenery spanning several tens of square kilometers
• A new course generation algorithm

That can be the best feature in GT6... combined with the GPS tracking we will make tracks close to real ones if that is implemented in the best way possible.

Community/Club/Race Organizer
• Players can form their own communities
• Various community levels from local and domestic to global
• Players themselves can create and manage their own online events

Online have to improve a lot... everything changed for a better community is alwyas welcome.

New User Interface
• Balancing directional key operation and touch operation
• Quick response
• Shortening of loading times

Cosmetic features... low priority for me but better loadiing times is welcome too... I use SSD so I did't have this issue with GT5.

Multi Device Compatibility
• PlayStation®
• Smart Phone
• Tablet
• PC

No real opinion about that.

But they still have a track "generator", which really sucks. Good post ethomaz, nice to know some new features, I wish they were more specific with the 200 new cars.

---

As for the tire model, I know I said not to compare to Forza....but, in FM3 and 4 they have an engine which actively alters the traction of the car based on how much the suspension sinks or lifts after a bump (which puts more or less weight on the tire) and based on where the weight is being pressed on the tire (so if you have a lot of camber, you will have more traction on a specific part of the tire, and thus more wear).

I want to see something like that more implemented in GT6, Forza had an excellent tire traction/deformation engine.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to the game still.

Not a complete list..

UI redesign (functionality, not aesthetics) - let me access my garage no matter where in the game I am, make all transitions faster than before..etc

Improve AI behaviour - more unpredictability in their actions, better intelligence overtaking

More diverse lineup - you touched on this but not in exactly the way I want. I want all those weird little street cars and JP cars to remain. But the hundreds of new cars they add to the roster need to have a greater western focus, because they're missing too many classics. It would also be amazing if they could add a proper F1 roster to the game. (cut the go karts and nascar if you have to...)

Better online integration - both in social - in sharing your car designs, replays and photomode stuff with others - and in racing - in customizing race conditions, setting up tournaments with friends etc.

Completely overhaul the car customization system. Fuck paintchips.

Time and Weather transitions on all tracks.

Physics  - because there's always room for improvement.

And do something to A Spec..just..make it better.
