Forums - Gaming Discussion - Am I the only one who doesn't understand people saying the PS4 reveal was amazing compared to Xbox One?

Game console launches are watched by core gamers I think that's established. Sony capitalized on that while MS didnt. People saying Sony revealed Killzone SF, technically they were just using that game to show the prowess of the console and every other game where to show the diversity of the console and the vision they have for gaming.

On the other hand MS targeted the audience which has attention span of less than one minute casual market, these are the people who would rather get the news about new Xbox via twitter or FB and its not good for Xone out there! I m pretty sure MS new that.

Second MS showed the system but is it a game console, what does that extra power means to the games to forza and development.. and even so what kind of CPU GPU it has. And rest of the TV stuff, I'm not from US what does it mean for me, I don't know the rules of NFL. Only thing that was trying to save the conference was COD, but a dog bit it.

So in my honest conclusion Apple and Google TV has a serious contender in form of Xbone.. But it has no chance of competing against PS4 as a gaming console

last gen majority of gamers disregarded wii as a gaming console and more of a fitness center. I think this gen its MS turn to sit out as an All in one entertainment hub! This is not the same MS that made 360

Funny thing the Sony didnt show the box but showed how controller in action and.. MS showed the box didnt show how controller works

Xbox one is really a US focused device.
Here in the Netherlands we wont get 90% of the features anyways. That goes for 90% of all EU country's as well and Asia too. It comes down to games for us. If they cant deliver on those than its over. They'll probably do great in the US but outside mmm yeah not so much.

E3 is Microsoft's last hope of redemption.

Just because sony was the first it might have been a little more ' amazing' than microsofts. Although i certainly do not agree with xbox having so much awesome stuff. Personally wasn't amazed by Sony either.

COD, duh so manieth itiration that everyone expected and will be multiplat.
EA Sports, been around for decades and always goes multiplat.
Some lame intro to a racing game, no or hardly any actual footage of ingame racing if i recall?

Lots and lots of tv/browse/voice-command stuff, while certainly here and most of the rest of the world buy these consoles for games.

Microsoft has left even more gaps for negative rumours than Sony did, see the shitstorm incoming about the secondhand games, online and always kinnected.

And I believe the specs of Sony are a bit better than Microsofts, which is considering all the graphic whores (excuse le mot) around reason enough?

So, if you take all this into account, are you still surprised by what you feel as people hyping the ps4 conference over the one from Microsoft?

But did Sony show anything that will rock the industry? That convinced the mass market to rush out and buy one? I dont really think so.

Like GAIKAI. If I were in charge of PS4 reveal, after Killzone: SF I would say - "Now go to PS store. Download GAIKAI app on your VITA and play it your self".

That would be epic presentation (not mentioning that sales of VITA would jump to the moon).

all 3 next gen console reveals were terrible :(

I agree.

So much information gets leaked along with tons of rumors that by time the reveal happens, it's just not as exciting.  Of the three, I think if Nintendo had the reveal much closer to the launch and had launched with a Zelda that was like the demo in the reveal, it would have had a far more exciting reveal and launch.  I have a high end pc along with all of the systems, so for me, Sony's isn't bring much  new to the table.  I like to sell some of my used games when I'm done with them, and my Kinect really gets used,  so it's looking like the XBOne may not be fr me either.  I've bought every game system released in the USA at launch from SNES to Wii U.  These will be the first systems since the NES that I wont be buying at launch.

Well, for starters Sony's conference was not as cringe worthy in the way they presented their product. They actually had real, working games and demos on the system demonstrating potential of the PS4. Not a bunch of willying around with OS, Kinect, TV and other non gaming features. The amount of incomplete, behind the scenes stuff that was shown by EA Sports and Activion (which are in development) speaks volumes in itself.

For me, it felt like Microsoft and their partners were not ready to unveil their "big guns", but they went ahead anyway..
to get as much exposure as they can before the big stage at E3. Ticking off all the relevant boxes the mainstream media would be interested in.

Sony on the other hand had everything planned out and a had clear vision for the PS4. The games.

I'm not sure about Microsoft conference because I didn't watch it. But this was the best thing about the Sony press conference:

A picture can speak 1000 words, this has never been more true than for this image.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand people saying the PS4 reveal was amazing

No.

...compared to Xbox One?

Oh. Yeah.

The ps4 conferance wasn't exactly amazing but it was very very good, but compared to Xone's conferance it was godlike

No one has really said the PS4's reveal was incredible from any perspective. But compared to MS's it was far better from a gaming standpoint.

MS's was better in in terms of speaking to the masses, but then again it was televised. Its very possible people would have been in awe from the killzone demo, Deep down, Agni's philosphy or the old man demo, but it was only really watched by core gamers. Ultimately though people are speaking from their own perspective. Its no different from people rolling tehir eyes at Wii Fit, yet it exploded.
