Forums - Gaming Discussion - Am I the only one who doesn't understand people saying the PS4 reveal was amazing compared to Xbox One?

- Make sure you read the thread. This is from a business, marketing, and sales standpoint. Not which console you like more -

Honest question. I simply don't understand why people are acting like the PS4 was this incredible mind blowing showcase.

At the PS4 conference they showed

Knack - Which looks like it could be a decent little platformer

Killzone - Looked great but was expected and nothing revolutionary

Infamous Second Son -same as Killzone

Drive Club - could be a good racer. Not much was shown

Diablo - Which will be multi platform

Destiny - multiplat

Deep Down - likely multiplat

Square Enix - Lol

And good specs.

MS showed a new core IP from Remedy, an improved Kinect, the actual console, a new great controller, a sequel to the biggest gaming franchise in the world with exclusive content, a highlight real of the biggest sports games on a new engine with exclusive content, Forza 5 sequel to the highest average Meta racer ever, 15 exclusives in the first year, NFL partnership, Halo TV show, cool media features.

To me its clear MS focused on mass market and did a better job selling to them than Sony did. That being said Im NOT saying they had a better conference for gamers. In fact Sonys conference was probably better from a "gamers" perspective

Still if you read the comments you would think Sony showed ultra megaton after megaton. Which frankly didnt happen. It looks like a solid system for gamers but honestly wasnt all that impressive either.

E3 should be much better for MS and Sony.

all 3 next gen console reveals were terrible :(

OP,you're not just a "core gamer",also a retailer

But you know,if MS really can show many games on X1 at E3 like what they said,"core gamer"(at least part of) will turn back because everyone knows they have short memories

Because Sony had a clear message. We make games. We want to make awesome games. We want you to play them. Everything they showed, even if it was a demo, was made to show off games and what the PS4 means for gaming.

Microsoft showed that they want to appeal to the cool kids playing COD and Madden and let you watch TV on your TV.

Sony showed games that is actually in game footage without even showing the box. Microsoft in the other hand showed the box but no in game footage.. They showed more of tv and sports and 30mins of CoD. Not to mention the CoD part wasn't even in game footage either.

if we talk about "show", M$ conference was fucking amazing, but if we talk about a gaming console, PS4 conference was... good -

But did Sony show anything that will rock the industry? That convinced the mass market to rush out and buy one? I dont really think so.

In fact MS and Sony both didnt truly wow. They were honestly about the same just aimed at different sections of the market.

People see what they want to see.

People want to join the mass internetz whine of the day.

People have short term memories.

We know next to nothing still about either launch, let alone long term for the gen.

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Exactly, great comment.

Like I said a kind of weak showing from both. Neither convinced everyone to rush out and immediatly upgrade. E3 though should be much better for both

I think if Microsoft had just cut 5-10 minutes of sports and showed a few more games - or even trailers of games, there would be a much different response.

Remember that tiny short animation of Link from the Pre-WiiU days? Just a few snip-its more would have made it better. Those 30 seconds of the Remedy game provided much excitement.

I just got really tired of Sports. It's just not my thing. Sure, many people like it, and it should really help sell the system. I think many gamers just aren't really into sports - or they wouldn't be inside playing games.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
