Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Cool things you like about Xbox One that no one here wants to talk about

Since every thread on VGChartz is preocupied with blasting the same 3 things about Xbox One which don't appeal to the core gaming community, I figured to make a thread where we can talk about things that Xbox One has which are actually appealing.

They decided to talk about hardware at their conference, and here are a few things I learned that I find interesting.

Feel free to post the stuff you find cool as well.

1. Expandable storage

http://www.engadget.com/2013/05/21/xbox-one-hard-drive/

"We had the opportunity to chat with Albert Penello, senior director of product planning at Microsoft this afternoon, who was kind enough to clarify a few topics for us regarding the recently-unveiled Xbox One. One thing we were quick to ask about was the integrated storage. 500GB sounds like a lot today -- but so did the 20GB unit in the original Xbox 360. The HDD there was, at least, replaceable. Can you do the same with its successor? Sadly, no. Hard drives in the Xbox One are non-user-serviceable, but Penello confirmed that the USB 3.0 port is there for external storage, which can be used for everything the internal storage can be used for. That includes game installs and downloads. So, don't fret: adding storage will be just as easy as ever."

2. Xbox One Controller - design aside which appears to be great, Xbox One's controller uses Wifi-Direct.

Wifi-Direct is a technology that will eventually REPLACE Bluetooth. The Xbox One controller can connect to any modern device that supports wifi-direct. This means it can connect to any modern device with wifi. This reaches a larger audience than a Bluetooth controller would.

Xbox One supports Wifi-Direct. Xbox One controller supports Wifi-Direct. Windows 8.1 have native Wifi-Direct functionality. Windows Phone supports Wifi-Direct. This is THE definitive controller for next gen and beyond.

I liked that they announced 15 exlusive games in the first year with 8 of them being new IP. That's about all I liked about the event CoD Ghosts, Quantum Break, and Forza 5 looked great. Can't wait to see what other games they show at E3.

The exclusives were nice, but seriously where was illumiroom?

i like the multitasking and the dvr and editing thing sounds like itll be cool

The controller looks really good especially since they fixed the Dpad, plus the trigger buttons have force feedback. The only downside is apparently it still uses batteries.
I like how advance Kinect is and that it can read your body heat, heart rate and small movements.
Also the console is bigger than the original Xbox which is kinda cool I guess.

The controller is awesome no doubt about it. But I see that as a pro and a con...for instance let's just say that the PS4 supported wifi. And I am a gamer who prefers the PS games but the XBOX controller is also my preference(and I know this next part is not possible or at least I do not think it is) now that this controller works with any wifi capable device I REALLY have no need for an Xbox One because I can buy the controller separate and use it with my PS4.

Or in a more sensible manner on a PC for my gaming and not have a need for the Xbox One. This was just something random that popped into my mind after reading your post.

But as I said in another thread the features that they are throwing in the machine make it a MUST HAVE in America anyway. And I will get one for sure! The voice commands are awesome for when I REALLY want to be lazy while watching TV and will do wonders for me watching movies, surfing the Net and even using Hulu ALL AT ONCE AT THAT!!!

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

What would be cool is if it allows me to run any file I want from a network device (NAS) and/or has a file system. That, and if it's cheap enough I would totally buy it (not for the games at all). Also the ability to use things like Skype and IE, etc. without a LIVE subscription.

Though if it doesn't this is really just a more restricted, locked down, HTPC (read: worthless crap), because it's basically Win8, with kinect support. Excuse me if I'm not awed.
