not sure why the arguing. clearly 360 was more successful than ps3 or wiiU which is i'm sure the comparison he's making.

LOL

It sold less than the Wii, and was outshipped by a console that came out even later (PS3) Today both the PS3 & Wii have a more expansive library of A list exclusives. 360 hasn't even come close to winning. The only way i guess you can say it won was with timed Call of Duty exclusive content. I still hold the belief most of Microsofts shipments came from RROD'd 360's. It was their plan all along, thats why they shipped them defected.

Except it was outshipped by the PS3, and the PS3 has been selling more worldwide for a long time now. The only way you can say the 360 was more successful is in America. WiiU is a next generation console, comparing it to the 360 is silly.

There really isn't a way to say that the Wii didn't win this gen, unless you're talking about America only.

But Microsoft gained a lot too. 360 was profitable, compared to the OG Xbox's 4 billion loss. Even RRoD got swept under the floor.

Really, Microsoft did well, but to say that they won the gen is just untrue.

Soon, if they read the console sales ranking BACKWARD, sure Microsoft can claim that they WON. Absolutely.

It's a tough call between Nintendo and Microsoft. Nintendo made more money but peaked early in the cycle while Microsoft has made more at the back end of the cycle and has remained more stable. But both improved vastly over last gen which is the real measuring stick but I would give this gen to Nintendo.

Nintendo beat MS in terms of both profit and total sales. And in regards to the living room argument wasn't there a survey not to long ago showing that PS3 was the #1 Netflix using device? :edit: Yep, there was.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

hmm.. they didn't win in any way though. Not in sales, profit, or even growth compared to the previous generation.

The goal-post moving continues even after the generation's end. My my.

How do you think MS have done this gen with the 360?

and please remember PM does not work for MS any more... he is overlaying his words on them.

I would say Microsoft failed in one metric with the 360, that is the lack of an outright victory, which is clearly what they were gunning for (they really seemed to incorporate much of what made the PS2 successful into their strategy, realizing why the PS2 succeeded when even Sony took the wrong message), and they can hardly be blamed for not foreseeing the Wii.

I know he doesn't work for Microsoft, but Molyneux will be but one of many observers who will make many conflicting claims in the next year or so. Then it all fades into history and the obvious becomes more obvious again (or not. Some people still think the Genesis beat the SNES).

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
