Exactly! Everyone needs to see that film at least once in their life (I finally got it on DVD a bit ago).

The movie plays out as one of the greatest unintentional comedies ever.

This thread is full of fail because no one has mentioned Videodrome or Eraserhead.

edit: Fkusomot mentioned Eraserhead. Bravo.

Out of curiosity, has anyone here seen Night of the Lepus?

It's the greatest giant killer bunny rabbit movie ever. Now that's a true cult film.

You could not be more dead on because this movie is great. I have it on dvd. Night of the Creeps Tombs of the Blind Dead Basket Case The Crazies by George A Romero The Class of Nukem High Trilogy These are real cult classics unlike Fight Club and others mentioned.

There seems to be some confusion over what 'cult' means when refering to movies. A cult movie is one which does not have mass appeal and becomes respected only amoungst a small minority of the movie watching population. Generally speaking a cult film will be disliked by most people who see it but for the few who DO like it will absolutely love it. There is no inbetween. So movies like Fight Club and The Fifth Element can't really be called cult films because they were rather popular.

I though of a few that havn't been mentioned yet;

Tron

Serenity

Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels

The Lawnmower Man

Come to think of it, a lot of movies that came from Stephen King's writings could be classed as cult films. So too with the 'Tales From the Crypt' films.

Another one I just thought of is From Dusk Til Dawn.

And Shawn of the Dead :)
