Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo should buy Take-Two

Thread after thread about how EA hates Nintendo.  No sports games on Wii U is an issue.  Nintendo should say fine, if you won't bring your games to Wii U we will become your biggest competitor.  Take-Two's market cap is about $1.4 billion US.  Nintendo could easily buy the company, or at least a majority stake.  Then, 2K games could be pumped up to produce sports games for Nintendo's platforms.  They already have MLB and NBA.  They should bid on FIFA, NHL and NFL.  Of course they would also have Rockstar and GTA could be made exclusive.  Irrational Games could work on new IP's for western tastes.  The additional resources of having Take-two's studios would mean Nintendo would essentially have next to no need for 3rd parties.  However, it would also mean people would really want their systems so 3rd parties would be lining up to put their games on them.  I'm surprised Nintendo hasn't used its cash reserves to make a bold move of some kind.

I don't think Nintendo could afford Take-Two. At the very least they are probably worth over 1 billion dollars

I agree mostly with the bolded part, but Nintendo buying anything close to Take-Two seems higly unlikely, even though it might be a good buy. Remember that Nintendo has very few western devs. already, and the few they have are developing Mario vs. Donkey Kong (even though the team were created to make core titles for the western audience) and a DKC game (a fantastic game, but it has nothing to do with the "western core audience").

Nintendo have more than one billion dollars in their vaults.

you realize, that after buying them they also have to pay all those people working in those studios for years before they get the first game on the Wii U?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Not likely. Nintendo might be keen on buying a Western publisher if they see the publisher as a good fit with their general philosophy, but who might that be? Ubisoft?

Nintendo could stand to buy more Western studios, though. It baffles me why they haven't purchased Next Level Games yet, since they clearly have potential when given enough direction. Heck, at least consider the GameCube strategy of backing new IPs from Western studios (even if they're smaller, downloadable releases).

No just no, Take two are too big for purchase and for the quality of games they produce. I would hate for any of the big 3 to buy them out. Nintendo should buy small developers and create some amazing new franchises with them instead

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

Well Take Two stopped making NHL games on its own. Apparently didn't make them enough money.
About FIFA, EA signed just recently an exlusivity deal until 2022.
And the NFL license is running out this year, so Nintendo would need to act fast or it wouldn't be worth it (for sports games).

I didn't say they didn't I'm just saying that it doesn't seem feasible for Nintendo to buy someone like Take-Two.

No, just no. Take 2 should stay 3rd party
