Insomniac 'seriously considered' Resistance 4

Developer says it could have made fourth entry in first-person shooter series but was wary of "franchise fatigue."

Insomniac Games "seriously considered" making Resistance 4, but ultimately decided to build an all-new franchise--Fuse--in an effort to avoid "franchise fatigue." President Ted Price revealed the news to GamesRadar, saying Resistance 3 represented a logical conclusion for the series.

 

"We decided to bring Resistance to a conclusion when we looked ahead and realized that Resistance 4, while possible and something we seriously considered, wasn’t going to be the right game for us at that time," Price said. "We wanted to do something new."

"One of the aspects of building franchises, and sticking with them for a long time is that even the team can get franchise fatigue. We had been pushing hard with Resistance from the beginning--which was a tough birth--to Resistance 3, which is a game we were all very proud of," he added. "With Resistance 3 it felt like we had capped off, or at least closed a major chapter in that franchise. So, a lot of the team was looking forward to doing something different."

2011's Resistance 3 is the most recent core entry in the series, though a PlayStation Vita game--Burning Skies--launched last year. The future of the series is unknown.

Insomniac Games' Fuse launches May 28 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

I really hope insomniac will survive the fail of fuse. Do a proper jak and daxter... i think resistance won't be continued.

I'd like to see Resistance 4. I love the Resistance Storyline. One of the best FPS storyline games if you ask me.

I hope Fuse doesn't kill them. Because Insomniac is a great developer.
Resistance is one of my favorite story-FPS franchises, if not my favorite.

Resistance was great at the outset, and just got boring through the series. Graphically, and fundamentally, the games were amazing, but it was missing a certain je ne sais quoi

make it dammit!!! Resistance 3 is very underrated because they killed any hope of the franchise with Resistance 2...

If they were to make a Resistance 4, I would like it if they brought back the 8-player online co-op from Resistance 2. I had a blast with that mode.

Given how FUSE turned out... maybe they should have. Not that i would buy either one.

No, it didn't. Why was their a giant hole in the sky that looks like a different dimension, what did nathan hale mean when he said beautiful. Did he mean the hole in the sky looked beautiful. Where did the Chimera came from and why/how where they the original beings of earth. Why did Capelli 5 year old son sounded like a grown man.


Overall though great game.
