Very entertaining thread, very well done. Unfortunately for Halo and GT their are a lot of people that will mindlessly argue about it. I believe the games deserve better!

I can see why the two games are compared, as both released at the same time frame. However, this thread is made to get a rise out of the Halo fans, lets be honest.

Since GT5 is the "flagship GT release" this gen, its only fair to compare it to Halo 3, the flagship halo release this gen, regardless of time of launch.

Either way this thread is just saying: we beat the lesser release, but not the king. So........congrats?

No....that makes no sense. That's just a less extreme version of comparing a game that's only been out a month to a game that's been out for years. Comparing games that didn't release near each other is simply not an accurate method to determine which sold better.

Hey there is no universal parameter. You or I can use whatever criteria we see fit. The dates and numbers are never fair or aligned, they just happen. Trying to make sense out of chaos makes no sense IMO.

GTs best is 2 million ahead of Halo's best. Thus, that is pointless to argue.

It's not about being fair. It's about using comparisons that allow us to draw accurate conclusions about the present.

But then again Reach wasn't a mainline Halo title (numerically speaking). Prequel stories tend to not do as well sales wise (see God of War/Gears Judgement).

Again, theres so many factors at play there is no right or wrong answer. I say compare the best vs the best. You and others can stick to your criteria, but to me it looks like the bar for GT has been lowered this gen.

Considering this, then, do you expect Halo 4 to clear Halo 3?

Halo 4 wont have the legs luxury that halo 3 had with the next gen looming. Unfortunate, but alas there are factors at play we cant control. Halo 4 sales legs are however vastly superior to 3 though thus far, cleared its current numbers in 25 weeks over the 50 weeks for 3 to do it.
