Just do the math. Let's assume it keeps selling 100k every week. It still needs 224 weeks to reach Wii's sales, a little over 4 years.

I'd say that's pretty possible if the entire world just ignores the PS4, NextBox and Wii U altogether and just sticks to the good old PS3.

How much did the PS1 sell after PS2 came out? I know PS2 sold like crazy still after the PS3 but I think PS2 was a phenomenon that may never be matched again. So how about the lesser (but still very impressive) PS1? I think that would be a more appropriate comparison.

Its possible but I dont think it will. This generation has gone on alot longer that previous have so I think that may cut into its post-gen sales. Also last gen it was the only successful console so it was the only system being bought post-gen, this time around its has stiffer competition in 360 and Wii plus next gen systems will hurt its sales in the bigger gaming markets.

It'll happen. But it won't be until 2016. I can see a $99 ps3 selling a few units. Devs will be giving ps3-360 decent support for the next 2 years. GT6, Last Of US, Beyond: Two Souls still coming this year. PS3 will be around a good while yet. The 360 might even outsell it, and then we can all laugh about how this gen turned out to be a last gen repeat, kinda.

I don't see Sony getting the BOM (Bill of Materials) low enough to retail the PS3 for $99. Even $129 seems unlikely.

Lol its funny when all is said and done the Ps3 will still end up top of 7th gen in sales even with its horrible start. Really shows just how powerful the PS brand is.

2015 sounds about right. PS3 WILL make it to 110 million +, Wii won't. That's about ~30 million to go. Perfectly doable by Xmas 2015.
