Is this the first time a Nintendo console doesn't get both Madden and Fifa?

The first Nintendo home console to get only one of each? Yes. But Nintendo handhelds don't get many of those.

On home consoles SNES didn't get Madden '92 and Fifa '95 because... who knows.

Jesus, there must have been a meltdown between Nintendo and EA. That "unprecedented partnership" was not just about Origin I think. Where's actual journalism when you need it?

Just what the hell happened between EA and Nintendo?..Do you guys think this is only because of Origin?...I'm not sure I buy that idea, there's something else there.

Fifa 72k
ME3 52k
Madden 32k
NFS 22k

Fifa 06 X360 - 130k -> Fifa 07 next-gen exclusive on 360.

Yeah, I see the consistency in their decisions.

So guys, what about that story about EA being contractually obligated to release Madden and/or Fifa for every platform?

It was already agreed upon that if a version of Madden doesn't meet a certain (unknown) sales threshold, EA is free to cease support for the platform in question. They had already paved the way on the 3DS with their craptastic launch Madden (released in spring, poor quality all around, no multiplayer), so they didn't have to make a follow-up. It isn't much different with the Wii U version that was made in six months (a game EA knew they had to make had to be rushed). It certainly feels a lot like EA didn't want this Madden to sell much, considering its gimped state.

I didn't know that.So do you think the zero support from them is just 'good old math', as shown in Yakuzaice's post?

Fifa 72k -- 2 months late, lacking content
ME3 52k -- 8 months late, lacking content, same price as ME Trilogy on PS3/360
Madden 32k -- 3 months late, lacking a lot of content
NFS 22k -- 5 months late, marginally higher quality than PS3/360 versions

Did they even try? They didn't release a single game for the console at the same time as the PS3/360 version. Not one.

Have they ever tried?  EA lineups are for console launches are usually full of old ports of their annual games.  People seem to be living in a fantasy world where EA is picking on Nintendo specifically.

Madden '06 360, 3 months late and lacking content.  Sold as much in the 360's US launch month as the entire Wii U EA catalog has worldwide in about five months.

If I'm not mistaken, even the N64 and GC didn't stop getting Madden and Fifa.

This is more like, Dreamcast territory we're seeing here.

ignoring the superior market leader of the current generation is indeed unprecedented.

maybe there really is a conspiracy

or a very simple explanation:
all non-nintendo exclusives are selling badly on wii u
even casual-core gamers overlord(cod) is reaching less than 1/3 of its vita sales(and the vita cod version is crap)
If such a game barely sells more than 200k units-which game will?
it simply does not pay making games for wii u until neither the words "exclusiv" nor "mario" are written on a wii u game.

but i think it is no loss for nintendonians as nintendo charts look always the same since DS (and even before)

Wii U charts 2014-2016 will be.
1)3d mario U
2)mario kart U
3)animal crossing U
4)wii fit U
5)mario in green pants U(luigi)
6)Paper Mario U
7)zelda u
8)twilight princess U
9)same old super mario 2-d still called new super mario brothers U 2(without bono-beau)
10)yet another mario U game
11)still no real pokemon for home systems
12)highly ratings-low sales next xeno rpg.

its a win /win for all.
EA won't lose money on games noone is willing to buy for wii u
Nintendonians can blame EA for not releasing games they won't buy anyway, but they have a good reason to bash EA

It is known.

EA blacklisted Nintendo. The only reason they are making anything for 3DS is its userbase/continual sales force it to in terms of Madden/FIFA contractural agreements. 2014 that will at least be in place for Wii U.

But likely nothing more.

Actually it's more likely that EA crunched the numbers and came to the conclusion that it's not economically viable to develop for the Wii U.

Fifa 06 360 doesn't have European numbers on VGC.
