Actually, if they switch to the micro-transaction model, then the Online Pass would only stand in their way. With micro-transactions, they'd want as many people accessing the online portion of their game as possible, used or otherwise. I'd bet my sister's cat that this move highlights the switch to micro-transactions more than it is a response to player feedback.

seeing what they are doing with fifa and what they did with dead space, i see them making a move to microtransitions and a lot of DLC. there are tons of DLC for battlefield, mass effect and dead space. the online pass only gets into the way.

What Activision games use an online passes? I know Call of Duty doesn't.

when i get a PS4 next year i am so going to rent battlefield 4

I guess losing money, laying off one thousand employees, and having to fire your CEO can change mind about something really fast :P lol.

Good for you EA!

I wonder if those passes really brought in money.

I'm confused?
EA is doing something good?
Something isn't right...?

It's just that simple.

EA is one of the best third party out there, they are doing this because they realize that their fans didn't like it

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Good. I buy my games new but i do sometimes sell/trade them in. Games with online pass really take a hit with resale value. So yea this is good news.

I agree EA is one of the best third party developers out there, but I doubt they're doing this just because fans didn't like it.  They're doing it because people who boycot sales just because it's an EA game with online pass.  Unfortunately it won't matter when people a lot of people boycot EA regardless, but atleast it's something that looks like they're doing something for the consumer base.
