Forums - Gaming Discussion - What are your thoughts on Nintendo?

I absolutely love:

Shigeru Miyamoto
Masahiro Sakurai
Retro Studios
and Monolith Soft

This is like Nintendo's golden tetraforce. Everything they make is pure gold. Nintendo as a whole is my Princess Peach - I will always support her and always defend her.
Nintendo has my favourite games in every single genre. Nintendo is constantly rethinking old tropes, constantly innovating, and constantly making me one happy consumer. Nintendo inspires me. And I love Nintendo. I will always hope and always persevere with Nintendo. Through the good times and the bad.

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.

There games have and always will be amazing, although they need to broaden their horizon a bit. I praise them for bring back star fox, pilotwings and Donkey Kong but they could do more to go back to the glory of the SNES and N64. As much as i love Mario games, i just wish they could rely less on them. Bring back F-zero, for instance. Nintendo has always focused on what really mattered, the gameplay. They could do so much with the potential.

But i think, the hardware mostly the home console is their downfall. They try so hard to add something radically different without realising whether it really benefits the games or whether developers will adopt the technology. This is the problem with the Wii and Wii U especially, as they've introduced stuff that was not expected but ended up not being used, unfortunately as the technology could of made for some more unique gameplay.

As for handhelds, they have always been good and is pretty much why they can still make hardware.

Overall, they are still one of the best gaming companies out there

Xbox One, PS4 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch will sell better than Wii U Lifetime Sales by Jan 1st 2018

You care enough to post

OT: Best of a bad bunch.

So tsundere.

I don't even know what the fuck that means kid.

Why did you come into this thread?...

They do make some insane decisions from time to time, doesn't seem to understand how much power their own brands really have, they are way too conservative for their own good and they have yet to make Eternal Darkness 2. And where's my damn Donkey Kong 64 sequel? And my damn Majora's Mask remake!? Damn them... *cries*
And Reggie needs to go. Seriously.

But, they also happen to make my favourite games. I've had wonderful moments playing Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Galaxy, NSMB Wii, Donkey Kong Country Returns and Xenoblade. Looking forward I'll get to revisit Wind Waker and A Link to the Past (sortof?), play Monolith Soft's next RPG and whatever Retro is working on. I feel like I have great times before me (if I ever get to the end of this desert that is...).

Edit:

Right, and I'll get the chance to play Bayonetta 2. Huzzah!

The thread asks what I think about Nintendo. I answer with "I don't care", as in I don't really care about them anymore.

I can't come into the thread unless I have something good to say about them? Lol.

Well.. after ruining Zelda, Paper Mario, and Luigi's Mansion (3 of my absolute favorite franchises of all time), I'm feeling extremely disappointed with the direction Nintendo has been going in with their game design. I see the same trends continuing into the future and it makes me really sad.

That being said, they still make a few very amazing games once in a blue moon.

lol riderz calling other people kids. Silly baka.

Best game developer, and the best hardware.

Care to explaine how they ruined them? I really want to know since I haven't played any sequal of those since the gamecube

Every Zelda game caters to a slightly different audience - that's the beauty of the series - I might absolutely love the wind waker, while one friend might absolutely love Majora's Mask, while another might love Skyward Sword - they're different for a reason. Just because you didn't like the most recent Zelda doesn't mean they ruined it. Every installment is going to be different for different audiences.
If you didn't like Skyward sword because of the linearity (some people love that) then rest assured, Eiji Aonuma has confirmed that the Wii U Zelda will be non-linear.
And the 3DS zelda is top-down - again for different audiences. The beauty of the Legend of Zelda is that there is something for everyone - whether you like single player, multi-player, linearity, exploring, adventuring, side-scrolling, top-down, 3D, motion controls, traditional controls - every installment is for a different audience. And if you're like me, you love them all because the core gameplay remains the same.

I thought you were saying you don't care about the topic at hand.
