Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Luigi's Mansion 2 has brought the 3DS to the point of no return in America

So after the first round of adjustments it seems the 3DS is back below the 360 in America; pending further adjustments from NPD, this could change again, but I don't expect it to.

when pokemon comes out the 3DS will absolutely destroy every other console

Erm, yeah I thought this thread was premature.

Sub-130k for the 3DS in April is pretty bad. May be even down year over year.

Luigi seems to be selling OK though, so there's that.

Pokemon on DS actually didn't cause any hardware boost, I looked it up and 3DS sales actually went down slightly the month Pokemon launched.

Pokemon fans tend to be Nintendo fans, they don't just sit there waiting for Pokemon to come out, they're interested in Mario too.

It's called Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon in America ya foo!
But yeah these sales are well deserved! I was skeptical of LM at first, well I'm always skeptical hehe, but more so here as I never even finished the original. Heard lot's of good things about the game, and then when I heard about it's cooperative online modes the deal was sealed, and I don't regret it at all! :D
Now if they could just patch up the online, then it'd be perfect. :)

I understand, but as long as people know what I am talking about, I am fine.

Either way you spell it, it is still selling really well.

Yeah I was just being a joker. :L

Btw I've noticed a shortage of LM2 aswell. No stores in my local shopping center had any copies at all so I had no choice but to download it from the eShop, but that was hardly an issue with my 16GB SD card. :D

If I remember well, 3DS sold less than 130K in the latest NPD report (whereas it was 200Kish in feb-march), which suggest that new releases such as Luigi or Lego are feeding the existing user base rather than expanding it.

Like I said before DS was already selling over 400k per month in the US alone, theres only so much a system can sell in a given amount of time. 3DS is selling much lower than that so it has room for a boost, which Pokemon will give.

Also month for month it was down but every week in April 07 was going down then Pokemon released the last week of the month and sales increased 35%, it didnt give a hige boost but it kept sales from continuing to drop
