Its not about promoting PS4 sales, its about GT6 sales. And GT6 would sell 10 times better on PS3.

GT6 would still sell really well on the PS4. In the long run it'd be more beneficial to release it on the PS4 than PS3.

It wouldnt sell nearly as well as it would on the PS3

Couldnt agree more. But you made it seem like it sold its numbers on its own steam. Maybe I just misread you.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Ya but imagine the PS4 buzz and hype. That in itself is priceless. Sony could then include it in early PS4 bundles for its first couple years on the market easily. But hey, either way you cant miss with a high selling game like this.

Im assuming youre just ignoring what I said before, about GT3 launching on a console that was ~7 Months old in the West?

Launching on a larger userbase doesnt mean the game will sell more units.

The best selling GT game is GT3. It released on PS2 1 Year after JP launch, ~7(?) Months after NA/EU launch.

You dont need to launch on a big userbase to sell well.

There's no guarantee PS4 will start to sell like PS2 did. Also, bundles. Lots of bundles

And there is no guarantee that the PS3 will have a tail like the PSone or PS2.

If this game releases as a PS3 exclusive, then there is a guarantee that the PS4 will have to wait 3 to 5 Years for its biggest exclusive release.

199$ PS3 this holiday season with GT6 would obliterate its competition

No it won't, GT6 on PS3 will generate more profit for Sony because it will sell A LOT more copies FULL-PRICE first week/months.

GT6 on PS4 won't make the same profits for Sony because "in the long run" the game will go down in price ($20-25) once the PS4 install base starts growing.

Why would GT6 on the PS4 go down in price faster than the PS3? Wouldn't it make more sense for it to be the other way around considering that GT6 would be a game that people would like to pick up with their PS4 purchase, while on the PS3 people would want a cheap game since it'd be on an old console? Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii didn't even go down in price that much till it was made a Nintendo Select. There's also Fire Emblem on the Wii that's expensive.

Also I believe that the first GT game ends up selling more than the second one (GT1 > GT2, GT3 > GT4...GT5 > GT6?).

Err... again... "Drive club". They already have a GT like game coming for it. Why would they have two competing with each other at launch? This decision is very smart in my opinion.
