I'd imagine Nintendo's more worried about the fact that comparisons with the Vita are even semi-viable...

Both systems don't sell, because they are misunderstood. People still believe that the Vita is a Circle Pad Pro-like attachment for the PSP.

And the Wii U?

People believe it's a bad system. Which, admittedly, it is.

Please understand?

Well, could be worse (like VGC numbers are suggesting...) and it also makes it seem as though the Wii U can't do any worse from here. So that's good, right?

No major software releases for May. Game and Wario in June, which won't do much (deservedly so, its supposed to be fairly poor). A trickle of software, though (better than next to nothing for April) should keep it from sliding yet further after that, however.

No turnaround hope until October, though. Pikmin will do something, but only short-term.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I'm not too worried about the hardware sales of the Wii U as I believe they can only improve from their currently dismal state. It's the software attach rates that are more troubling. It seems to be hard enough to get good 3rd party support as it is but when you look at software sales it paints a very bad situation for Nintendo.

If I recall correctly Nintendo killed off the DS because of faltering software sales so at the very least I think they need to step up their marketing to improve consumer awareness and to change the attitude toward the console into more of a positive one. One option could be to rebrand the console and have a relaunch of sorts.

Although Nintendo is addressing the issue of game output, I really do hope that they invest heavily into their teams and provide the resources that will allow games to be of high quality with reasonable development times.

All things being equal that might be so. However things probably aren't equal. We must not forget that Microsoft has yet to unveil its console, and neither them or Sony. Has set the price of their consoles, their launch dates, or their respective launch lineups. That could further choke off Wii U sales. In other words both could make a seriously strong case that consumers should just save their money up to buy their new consoles. Not to mention that there is a strong possibility that they both will reduce the price of their current consoles. Which are the ones that are actually competing with the Wii U.

Don't be so harsh!

OT: Pfft, Wii U is so dead.

Sarcasm, obviously. Can't wait till NPD gives us some real numbers.

I don't see why people are discussing this. It's not different than VgChartz data. Educated guesses.
Wait for NPD which is the closes we will get to 100% accuracy.

Isn't 3.5 million pretty good for a new console that hasn't gone through but one holiday season?

It's it way better I belive than the Xbox 360 life time to date.

So in't it actually doing ok?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

It's lower than GameCube launch alligned. It's not doing ok.

The original Wii was past 6 million at this point I believe and probably would've been in the 7-9 million range if Nintendo could've actually met demand.

Nintendo needs that killer game everyone wants at the right time for the right price with the exactly right advertisement campaign to reach the masses. Simple, right?
