Forums - Gaming Discussion - What are your thoughts on Ubisoft?

At the top of my head the only games I don't like from them are the recent AC games (1 and 2 were really good but after that the series went downhill). So I like them a lot.

Also Rayman Origins is one of fav games this gen, so there's that.

I hate them for ruining the Prince of Persia series.

I like them, but they are going to Activision way

I like them for keeping three great old PC franchises alive: (Heroes of) Might & Magic, The Settlers, Anno.

I like ubisoft. They created the ac franchise and far cry 3. Watchdogs also just looks amazing.

I used to like them, but they started pumping Assassins creed every year, they pulled Rayman legends for executive reasons and they move a vendetta against the assassins creed creator that chose to go on his own path and they proceeded to buy the studio he put together and his game. That is disgusting and as such i am not very pleased at all with them at the moment.

I think they are the best big 3rd party publisher out there atm. They have that can appeal to everyone. They seem to be the only ones making a few risks, and altho theyr game are rarely masterpieces, they are never bad either.

What?! I can't hear you over all this awsome! - Pyrrhon (Kid Icarus:Uprising)

Franchise by franchise:

Rainbow Six: Never really cared about this one.

Ghost Recon: It was briefly good for Advanced Warfighter, though nothing special, and is back to being forgettable.

Assassin's Creed: Dull, then brilliant, then pretty good twice and back to dull. I have seen nothing to make me believe that it will improve in the near future.

Far Cry: In excellent condition, and by far the best thing they have made in years.

Splinter Cell: Decent, then great, then brilliant, then pretty good, then Bourne Conspiracy: The Game, twice.

Rayman: Looking very good at the moment.

So, of their six main franchises, only two interest me even remotely, and they are genuinely killing franchises at Activision-like speeds at the moment.

EDIT: Forgot about Watch Dogs. That looks excellent, and it could well be enough to redeem their brutal slaughter of AC and Splinter Cell.

While I agree that the company is guilty of prostituting the Assassins Creed franchise. Delaying Rayman seems to be the fiscally responsible call. If you genuinely like the series, and want to see it around for many more years to come. Then the title has to be a financial success. Like it or not given the install base on the Wii U, and the buying patterns of the consoles owners. The game being exclusive, or even offering delayed ports for other consoles. Would have very likely caused the game to be unprofitable.

As for their terminating the two employees who previously quit the company. They probably left the company initially, because there was tension between them and management. Some people get along, some people tolerate, but some people are like fire and ice. If both sides genuinely hated each other, and going by the way the whole termination was described that is probably most certainly the case. Security escorting you out of the building is a pretty good sign that they don't trust you to leave with dignity.

Which based on the tweets from Patrice Desilets was probably entirely justified. Who sounds like the kind of guy that if given the chance would have poisoned the water cooler on the way out. I mean he is still attacking them even after getting the sack. Even after they presented his departure in a positive light. Anyway there are always two sides to a argument, and we haven't heard theirs. For all we know the guy got caught watching child pornography.

Like/hate relationship.

Rayman debacle. But hey I love Rayman. And least they're supporting WiiU. The problem is that I have this weird feeling that they messed up Watch dogs. There better be a way not to kill anyone and still beat the game.
