Square Enix have been very, very controversial in the last 6 Years. Another "love or hate" company that has a vast library of well loved franchises. Moreso after they acquired Eidos.

I used to love them but as of late my opinion has been swayed. Im more 50/50 now as I still love Hitman and the latest Tomb Raider is a brilliant game.

My favorite developer/publisher. From Tomb Raider to Hitman to Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts They have games in most of my favorite genres making them my top game company!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They're still my favorite developer but they seriously need to get their shit together.

Their Western side is good at the moment but I've got no idea what their Japanese side has been thinking this gen. They've wasted the Final Fantasy brand completely this gen and all they have to show for it will be the Lightning Trilogy and XIV which was so bad they've had to shut it down while they try and fix it. I don't know what happened, I really liked the FF brand during the PS1 and PS2 eras. Maybe they can pull it together for next gen?

Edit: I would sum it up as; I still think they have talent, but they have poor management at the moment. Right now NamcoBandai are my new Square Enix with all the Tales games they have been releasing alongside things like Ni no Kuni and Eternal Sonata.

I was a long time fan of SE. Right now much less so. I haven't played the new Tomb Raider yet, but on the Square side I've been terribly let down by Final Fantasy since X. I don't dislike the company, I just think they've lost their way. Key artistic people have left and with them the creative magic. After playing Last Story and the masterpiece that is Xenoblade, it's a reminder that people make games, not companies. I'm now a fan of Monolith and Mistwalker in the way I was a fan of Square. That's where their former talent is and it shows.

Everything they touched was outstanding up till Final Fantasy XIII. Ever since then they seem like they're actively trying to piss people off. They won't release Kingdom Hearts III, they won't release VsXIII, they pulled people off dozens of other projects to try to fix Final Fantasy XIV Online, they decided to rerelease Final Fantasy X HD rather VII HD (I love both games equally but that is NOT the general consensus), And they released a XIII-2 and XIII-3 in lieu of....well, virtually anything else.

Oh. and Final Fantasy: All the Bravest.

They have so much potential, so many great franchises, so many great IP's and ideas, but ever since XIII, they've gone from being one of the best developers, putting out 4 of the best games of all time in less than 5 years. (Final Fantasy VII - 1997, Final Fantasy VIII - 1999, Final Fantasy IX - 2000, and final Fantasy X - 2001) to releasing one main series title since 2006, and it was terrible by most accounts. Hell, XIII got worse reviews than X-2, and that's a fact. (Though X-2 actually got pretty good reviews.)

They just don't GET it anymore. Until they fix their shit, I will continue to loathe them and all they stand for.

Gotta love their handheld side nowadays. TWEWY, BDFF, all them Dragon quests.

The could be better on the console front. Final Fantasy XIII and XIV were a disaster, and still no KH3 or VersusXIII?
They need to get their stuff together.

Favorite company but like the rest, the top dogs must all show some kind of incompetence at some point

Im waiting for Versus but we still have to wait for Final Fantasy XIII-4 and XIII-5 to be announced and released before they can start back up Versus production again
