Will Yakuza PS4 end up over 100 points?

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

COD on PS2 sold 2 million or so....what does that tell you about the # of hardcore gamers on the PS2?

Casual gamers bought the PS2, they didn't just appear when Wii released.

An HD Wii would have been enough, the Gamepad ruined the WiiU. Nintendo tried to fix something that wasn't broken. The end.

Gran Turismo sold more then 10 millions nearly all the top selling game on ps2 are hardcore gamers.

Some Casual buy ps2 but are not many..

Nintendo try to innovate to attract new people but they fail i don't thing an hd wii would change nothing to wii u situation.

Gran Turismo and Grand Theft Auto are as much casual games as they are hardcore. GT especially, week 1 sales are always super weak, but the game has legs. Final Fantasy as well, it sold so many units off name alone, it appealed to casual gamers just as much as the hardcore.

What's next on PS2's list, Need for Speed? Are you going to argue that's a hardcore franchise? Medal of Honor, Madden, all of the top selling PS2 games have a large casual market appeal.

The best selling PS2 games are all casual based. You have no arguement, WiiU would have been perfect without the Gamepad, without the "innovation." PS2 was more the same and it sold well, iPhones are pretty much the same and they sell well, once casual gamers find something they like, they stick to it.

What is your definition of a casual gamers?

Nintendo is not Sony or iphone you can't compare them.

Why is Nintendo the only company who sells to casual gamers? Did Casual gamers not exist in 2005?

It doesn't matter that Nintendo isn't Sony or iPhone. Casual gamers loved the Wii, and all they wanted was a Wii 2. Casual gamers loved the PS1, and they loved the PS2, then turned on the PS3 because it changed. Casual gamers loved the iPhone 3, 4, and 5. Same buying habits, Nintendo changed the Wii too much, in a bad way, and the casual gamers abandoned Nintendo.

I can't discuss with you if we don't have the same vision about what is  a casual gamer if people who play Call of duty or Need For speed what we call Nintendo dogs or Cook mama.

A casual gamers for me is a people who don't play regularly games they play sometime Call of duty gamers play cod every day Cook mama gamers are happy with the game and don't need another iteration of the game Call of duty is not.

Nintendo try to attract Casuals gamers with Wii   because they didn't succeed to compete with Sony with a hardcore console and they succeed but because casual don't play a lot Wii is enougth  for them no need to buy a wii u.

Sony also try to attract casual but fail their best selling casual game are sold less then 2 millions while game like Gran Turismo that i thing  are hardcore sold a lot more.

Nintendo console is a  better choice for casuals then Playstation ,Sony console is a better choice for hardcore games ,Smartphone is another thing Smartphone is a necessity in daily life not like console that what explain the boom of Smartphone sale people play smartphone game because they have a smartphone not the opossite

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

lol at my typo, weak*

Call of Duty normally sells 4-5 million per console week 1. Halo's do 5 million as well. JRPG's also sell 50% of their sales at least week 1. Even GTA, that sold like what 8 million week 1.

GT6 sold < 1 million week 1, but I guarentee you it's going to sell over 5 million lifetime, more realistically 7-8 million. That's 15% of its sales or so week 1, much less then something like Halo. Heck Super Mario Bros Wii had a bigger week 1.

GT5 had a decent week 1, but it was only as big as FFXIII (when you allign the launches), and that game only sold 5 million.

CoD normally does way more than that actually and Halo's don't usually do 5m. In fact, none of the Halos have done that much. They're all in the 3-4m area on 360.

GTAV sold something like 16-17m first week lol.

Having said that, I still don't see how 2-3m FW per game for most of them is a "weak" first week. 2.5m FW is never weak or decent. It's some of the best first week sales games have ever seen. GTA and CoD are just on another level.

Very few games actually manage to come close to 1m first week. The length of the legs does not change the quality of the first week.

I think you misunderstood my comment. 2.5 million sales for week 1 is great, but for GT5 it was only 25% of lifetime sales.

Generally full out casual games have crazy legs, and we see maybe 3-15% of their lifetime sales given in week 1 (e.g. Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and SM Galaxy each opened to about 1 million sales (in all regions), but sold 33, 12, and 11 million lifetime).

Meanwhile a more hardcore game like......upon further research my arguement is invalid because games like XenoBlade and Vanquish also only get 20-35% of their lifetime sales during week 1.

-----

Well I still consider Gran Turismo to have a large casual appeal. It's not a dedicated casual game like Wii Fit, but I do see it as something like Super Smash Bros, a game which both casual and hardcore can enjoy. Same with CoD and GTA, they have hyper success because they manage to sell to people who never play a game with a single player component (Even for GTA, most people just mess around).

P.S. GTAV sold 8 million per platform week 1.

When you look at the demographs between CoD and Nintendogs gamers, what's the difference? Cooking Mama and Nintendogs buyers are
predominatly women where NFS and COD buyers are predominatly male. (There is an article talking about how 80% of female gamers play Nintendo games).

So are you saying only females can be casual gamers? Do you need to buy Shovelware (like cooking mama) to be a casual gamer?

I consider a casual gamer someone out of touch with gaming, and they buy stuff based off marketing, and word of mouth. Casual gamers for instance play Super Mario Galaxy because it's Mario. They also play COD because of the name, and same with Gran Turismo.

Oh common, Gran Turismo isn't even a bit casual? How is the demograph for GT any different from Super Mario Galaxy? I bought GT3 when I was a kid and the PT Cruiser was my first car. I knew nothing about games back then, and nothing about cars. I think for the most part, most GT owners are not-competetive.

Nintendo makes 1 console which successfully attracts casual gamers, and now Sony is a non-starter? I'm sorry, but people do buy Playstations for LittleBigPlanet (which sold >5 million each), Gran Turismo, Ratchet & Clank, etc.

I also disagree with you about Casual gamers not playing games regularly. Both Wii Fit & Wii Fit plus were a huge success. Every Mario game sells extremely well, and we're getting to the point where there is at least 1 annually. Wii released way back in 2005, a lot of casual gamers are looking to upgrade their console, much like they upgrade their smartphone.

Nintendo really messed up with the Gamepad, all they needed was a Wii HD to succeed. You can't argue that casual gamers won't appreciate this when everything is released in HD now. Wii is a really dated console, and casual gamers love to keep up with trends. Nintendo failed to make WiiU trendy.

By Casual i only mean game like Cooking mama and Nintendo dogs not mario
Since someone out of touch with gaming they don't care that much about gaming Wii with Wii Fit and don't see the need to buy a Wii u with Wii fit U ,Look at the big fall of Nintendo dogs on 3DS to see that casuals don't see a reason to buy another Nintendo dogs game on 3ds and it's also my explanation why 3ds sold a lot less then ds.

A doubt a hd wii will succeed casual will stay with their wii ,i don't thing casual care about hd only hardcore gamers care about that.
