Nice to see a little more red in the chart, almost even. Speaking of which when is the last time Nintendo held a majority?

Not in 2019. It was even on two days this year:

Level 5 really dropped the ball on YW4

Using a franchise that got milked to death and is now far past it's prime, while also delaying the game by a lot resulted in this.
Remember when the game was originally planned for winter of 2018?

That said I don't have my hopes up for Inazuma Eleven Ares either

Not just that, this time is on a console that there have been signs that  is treated by many Japanese people asan expensive only handheld console  land not as an affordable stationary & portable console like America's and to a lesser extent Europe/Oceania...

That's the 3DS Mario Maker or Wii U?

Also the Switch as a platform has already shown its strength with behemoth software sales. Any talk of it being "too expensive" is thwarted immediately by those humongous sales. And Yokai Watch 4 is not simply a 3DS game charading as a Switch game. They've made a lot of changes and improvements visually as well as in the gameplay to merit being on the newest Nintendo system.

If you're happy with the 32k current NS weekly sales baseline in Japan, then who am I to contradict you.

Switch is selling more software than the 3DS on a smaller install base:

3DS first 9 quarters: 34.47m units software, 11.54m units hardware
Switch first 9 quarters: 34.64m units software, 8.23m units hardware

The Switch isn't the DS or 3DS. It doesn't have to sell 100k every week or 5 million a year to support big software sales. Look at how the PS2 sold every week and you'll see a resemblance. This is what a successful console sells like if you like it or not.

Handhelds have inflated sales and since even software is cheap it makes all the numbers look good but the actual revenue is low. But unfortunately the previous two market leaders were cheap handhelds so people are under this impression that the Switch is doing badly and needs to drop in price. That's wrong.

A wild SAO appears

I would argue that Splatoon would also be up there under better circumstances. Splatoon released on the Wii U, which never took off, and Splatoon 2 within 5 month of the release of the Switch, thus not having  much of an install base for preorders yet. A splatoon releasing now probably would get similar preorders than those two franchises.

Splatoon I feel like hasn't even reached its peak in Japan or worldwide. Splatoon 3 will be interesting to watch.

Woah Code Vein got a release date!

So safe to say that YW4 will be 3rd place in the 3rd party Switch games category

It will most certainly not beat either SAO - 84pts or Minecraft - 83 pts
But it is ahead of everything else already. It will push Super Dragonball Heroes - 60pts down to 4th place.
Which puts its overall placement to 12th place.

Summer Pockets will land in the 30th-40th place range.

So update to this:
