Forums - Sales Discussion - COMG! Japan Pre-order Chart Thread - Daily updates!

Surprise, surprise, Japan, like the rest of the world, prefers badass-wolf-with-a-sword Zacian to sad-wolf-in-an-epic-cone-of-shame Zamazenta. I wonder if/how long the current 2:1 Sword-Shield ratio will hold. If it holds until after launch, Game Freak will have really screwed the pooch on that poor dog's design.

I found the design of Zamazenta much better than Zacian, which just looks nonsensical an cheesy narmy to me.

I honestly thought we were going to see the end of this thread a couple of months ago. Glad to see the charts back to life

Well about of third of people agree with you, while 2 thirds agree with me. Thank goodness for that, at least from Nintendo's perspective, that not everyone agrees with me, or there'd just be one version that didn't sell at all.

I've been expecting the death of COMG for years now, but it just keeps on going. You never want to lose faith in it during the dead season though. Spring always is a bit rough for COMG, and it tends to be at its worst sometime from the end of April to the end of May, then picks up in June. This summer has been much weaker than I expected though, so I'm still pretty worried, but if COMG were truly going to give up the ghost, it probably wouldn't be when it's already expecting its worst sales. It would just take out a loan to get it through the rough season and hope that the holiday would make up for that. If the holiday season just wasn't enough, then they'd try to cut their losses at the beginning of the next year by filing for bankruptcy, though I'm not sure how bankruptcy law works in Japan. If it's even remotely close to US bankruptcy law (and with Abe for prime minister, it probably is) then they likely wouldn't have shut down in May, and would hold out for the holiday season. That's just how retail is. Mind you it isn't as pronounced in Japan as the states as Christmas is a much bigger thing here than there but Black Friday is called Black Friday not because it's dark or scary or anything like that but rather because that's the day the stores all get out of the red. Retail profits are just that slim that they don't really turn a profit worth keeping open for until the last two months of the year. Again, Japan is different, but not that different.

But yeah COMG needs to not die until we surpass the Vita thread, so it's good to see it still going. I'd say we have at least a year or two before stores start closing again from industry trends, unless some kind of global recession hits.
