Nice to see a little more red in the chart, almost even. Speaking of which when is the last time Nintendo held a majority?

Not in 2019. It was even on two days this year:

Not just that, this time is on a console that there have been signs that is treated by many Japanese people asan expensive only handheld console land not as an affordable stationary & portable console like America's and to a lesser extent Europe/Oceania...

That's the 3DS Mario Maker or Wii U?
Also the Switch as a platform has already shown its strength with behemoth software sales. Any talk of it being "too expensive" is thwarted immediately by those humongous sales. And Yokai Watch 4 is not simply a 3DS game charading as a Switch game. They've made a lot of changes and improvements visually as well as in the gameplay to merit being on the newest Nintendo system.

If you're happy with the 32k current NS weekly sales baseline in Japan, then who am I to contradict you.

Splatoon released on the Wii U, which never took off, and Splatoon 2 within 5 month of the release of the Switch, thus not having much of an install base for preorders yet. A splatoon releasing now probably would get similar preorders than those two franchises. |
Splatoon I feel like hasn't even reached its peak in Japan or worldwide. Splatoon 3 will be interesting to watch.

It's the Wii U version.
